PURCHASE NO GAS ON MAY 15, 2007

Postby coonrebel » Sat May 05, 2007 7:53 am

Hi All,
Let's try this and see what effect it will have on the gas prices!!

no gas for one day try it!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO GAS...On May 15th 2007

Everyone do not pump gas on may 15th

In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in
protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon
overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas
station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon
in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
network,
and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil
companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas
station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern
oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldn't) r esend this to
all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May
15th"

Wouldn't it make far more sense to not drive on that day...Because it's the gas consumption that drives prices, not when the gas is purchased. So if everyone boycotted gas on one day , but filled on another, the gas sales would be the same.

Ok I will not go to a gas station, I'll just dump a bottle of cooking oil in my tank. :R Don't try that with a gasoline burner though. :R Diesels only. :R

We finally got done with our new emergency generator here at work. The old generator is still there just unhooked now. It's almost full of fuel in the tank, aprox 300-400 gallons. I asked my boss if I could have it and he said go for it! So far I've run 10 gallons in my Volkswagon.

We ought to be able to design our own electric car... Andrew had some wooden car pictures on the forum a while back. Just load it chock full of batteries, and an electric motor... Oh the possibilities...

Or buy a Toyota Prius...

BTW, I test drove a Prius a few months ago. It's spooky. At low speeds you drive and the engine doesn't run at all. At higher speeds the engine starts automatically... wierd... spooky... different!

Mike, a friend of mine told me long time ago a man developed a clock mobile. It was a car that you winded up and it had a range like 30 miles if I remember corectly. I have alway wanted to find more info on that car, I though that was a neat idea.

not buying something serves absolutely no purpose if you do not reduce your consumption.

Instead of buy no gas day, or buy nothing day there needs to be 'use less day', or consume nothing day.

This is a useless gesture without a concurrent reduction in consumption.

OR ride bike to work like me. I save lots of money on fuel, save on car insurance because of my driving less then 10,000 miles a year. And I am *%$#ing big oil in the process. Boycotting 1 day is worthless, cutting your driving milage habits nearly in half yearly will hurt them. However you will never convince most Americans, soccer moms in SUV's,or teenagers to stay off the road far less. As long as you all drive to much ,big oil will have you by the *alls. It's the law of supply & demand, cut the demand, they will drop the price.

Mike,
Do you have any kind of park & ride system nearby?
That's even catching on out here in Far West Texas.

No...

other than car pooling, which I do with my wife, there is no park and ride system nearby... Chell works approx 20 miles past my work...

Problem is, we live in one suburb, and work in another... there is nothing "city" about it...

So short of hang gliding to work, I can't think of anything better than we are doing now...

Yea, we thought about moving closer, but housing prices double and triple...
the average home runs between 400 and 600K.

Mike...

Of course, in this neighborhood they are a little bit cheaper...

I say someone should invent a small nuclear reactor that just makes steam, and we can all have Stanley steamers with TD's.

Train,public transportation,alternating weeks riding with co-worker,motorscooter,park&ride. Wife's sister lives in Gaitersburg, MD,works in Washington ,DC. Walks to train station{1/2 mile} takes the train to DC. Can't even drive personal car there in twice the time,cost of yearly pass,about 2 tanks of gas.{she has been doing that close to 10 years now} Have next door neighbor that works in a Philadelphia hospital 95 miles away. Drives 5 miles to train station,walks 5 blocks to job. Drives a 20year old Volvo with only 60,000 miles on it.{he has been doing that since moving next door to me 24 years ago}

Work is one thing, but those people that drive 10 times to places in the same direction, with a little planning can make it all in one trip.Get used to it folks it's going to get worse. :x

Says it all on one of my work rides.
