Hi All
Been away for long time working in europe

Well where to start. Going to build 4.5x8ft td for my daughter it going to
go behind my vw camper.
The trailer base will be made from 50x50x3mm tubing base is rated to
750kg picking up metal on Tuesday morning

One big problem in the UK I can't get the long hinge for the camper area
at the back of the td HELP is there somthing else I can use

Check with Geron . . . he's got a plastic hinge that might be just the ticket for you.

K, check with Heikki in Finland. He has found the same hinge as I use. Other than that, get onto Grant Whipp and order one of his hurricane hinges.

Paul, I've been in touch with the Canadian firm... how did you seal the hinge to the wood?

On the hurricane hinge, there is a big overlap, so I used a window caulk on that.. but the plastic hinge has a small overlap, so sealing is more critical...

Note: The instillation of the hinge is an effort that should
be considered with care before usually cutting a little longer than the trailer width.
Be sure to ask, read and heed, before you cut the length of your galley hinge solution.
Water has a tendency to find its way inside a trailer if this
important part of construction is done incorrectly. Fear not as this forum

I found the hinge like the one Paul has..also another hinge ordered from the USA..

As well as the imported US hinge from Pop Browns, the same design of hurricane hinge is made in the UK - a local firm up in Gateshead making catering trailers uses it, but they don't want to tell me where they get it from (I think they think I'm a competitor).

So search through truck and trailer bodybuilding supply companies and you may find it cheaper. Buying one piece from a local bodybuilding company may be the best bet.

Hi from another one in old England. I too am planning to tow behind a VW camper but I am still finishing that. I am just amassing info and doing some scetching of what I want. I think it will be great behind a camper as it can serve as a second bedroom and as a galley. Good luck and keep up the good work.
