What's wrong with 15" or 16" wheels? That's what traditional Teardrops came with. Yes, a few came with 12"

This is a really good topic, and I hope lots of people chime in. I grew up with the knowledge that the smaller the wheel, the more RPM's the bearings turn as opposed to the larger wheels on the tow vehicle. The more RPM's, the hotter the bearings, and possible failure! But, with all the HF, Red trailers and other inexpensive frames members are using, there must not the problems I would have expected. By the way, I have a cargo conversion with 15" wheels. Smoothie's of course.

We are going out on Friday the 18th. If you are leaving then also, want a fellow camper to tag along for (god forbid) emergency assistance?

I wanted more ground clearence and something with thousands of miles of towing dependability of tread wear and bearing longevety. The windsong has 15 inch tires.

Sorry Folks.... I messed up. I had a bunch of wheel sizes listed that were bigger. I must have accidentally deleted it.

Anyway, the reason was... I kinda like the look of a larger wheel. But was curious how many others had it, and if their were other reasons to go larger or not.

I would say that 90% of the teardrops that are out there have 15" wheels. Also the larger the tire/wheel, the smoother the ride.

I'd love the company. What time you headed out.

Kind of a back track for you though isn't it?

Hey! I can finally join the "IN" crowd. I also have 15" wheels on my trailer. I don't know how much actual difference the wheel size makes, but I know I like the visual proportion it gives my trailer.
