Who's Zoomin' Who???.......

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Rocky,
Thanks... This goes back to late December of last year.
I feel that I've waited long enough and read that others who filed complaints without getting an outside aggency involved only resulted in the beginning of round two of a several month wait... That's why I threw in the two week window for them to live up to their promise.
That should be more than ample time to send me a coupon and a gift...
I had to chuckle when they said they are bogged down with a high volumne of emails right now... Other complaints maybe???

War Eagle,
So did you actualy receive the FREE DVD Player without going through all the Mumbo-Jumbo with 'em???
Oh... I did take it with me to the Dam Gathering...
Wanted to watch the Richmond race Saturday night.
The potluck, awards and raffle didn't get over until late so I didn't even bother setting it up.
It wasn't until I got home late Sunday night that I found out the race got rained out Saturday night and was run during the day on Sunday...
Could've watched it in its entirety right from the campground.

I called Comcast tonight to inquire about an additional DVR and digital tuner. I was told I could get a digital tuner for every room in the house for free for a year. I have 7 cable outlets in the house so how could I go wrong? I also get a non-HD DVR for $6.95 a month.

Unlike satellite, we can watch 70 channels with out any box. We need a box to get the digital channels (70-530), PPV and HBO etc.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Well,
I got a second reply from someone else in customer service...
This one was about the FREE DVD Player...

Thanks for writing. I'm sorry to hear that you have not received the Cash Back
offer. I have reviewed your account and show that you did sign up through DIRECTV,
not a retailer. I'm sorry that you were sent a letter stating you signed up the
incorrect way. I have escalated this issue to higher level management for further
review. Please allow 10-14 business days for a resolution.

Your free gift is pre-determined by the date and method in which you sign up for
DIRECTV. I do show that you signed up through our website within the correct date
range and you are eligible for a portable DVD player. Please allow 6-8 weeks for
your gift to arrive.

If you have any further questions or concerns please contact us at 1-888-355-7530
between 6:05 am and 1:00 am EST for further assistance.

Thanks again for writing.

Sincerely,

Rachel V.

Hmmm... 10-14 days to resolve this matter another 6-8 weeks for it to arrive, plus the five and a half months I've already waited... That's eight months... How's that for customer service?!!!!

If it ever shows up, the stupid thing is probably gonna be nothin' but a piece of junk anyway.

DVD players aren't anything nowadays. Heck, we got the DVD player with a 10 in screen for under $100 around Christmas time. I'd be more concerned with the $100.

The hundred bucks???
I'll never really see it...
I was told early on when I inquired about the first time, about 8 weeks after signing up... They are going to credit my account 10 bucks each month for ten months...
I have this weird feeling that all this stuff isn't gonna kick in until it's time to reup with 'em...

If it's just a player with no screen, you can buy them new for $30.

Dean,
I have had DTV for about 6 years, the free DVD player was not part of my deal. I bought through Circuit City, and at the time DTV was offering a rebate of 100% the cost of the equipment. CC had the equipment on sale for about $50 off plus CC was offering a $150 rebate on a 1 year contract. So DTV rebated the full cost of the equipment at regular price (I made $50 there) and then CC gave me $150 on top of that, so I netted $200 for signing up for something I wanted anyway  . BUT, I had to fight for my rebates. It took me a couple months but I got everything they promissed.
My latest rant with them was just becasue I decided I had been a long time customer and felt they should upgrade my equipment and like I said, by being persistant and climbing the customer service ladder I got wha tI wanted.

MY advice to you would be to picj up the phone and call them again. Tell them that you got the letter saying that you would receive the $100 and the free DVD player but you are not satisfied with the time frame they have set to resolve the issue. Insist that this issue should have been resolved months ago and you should not have to go through the steps and time it is taking to get what they promised. Then tell them you want more, additional credits or something for the time you have had to spend to resolve what should have been a seemless issue. By doing that you may get more than you expected or atleast a more timely reaction to your current problem.

Advice from a hard headed person that will argue with a tree stump, take it for what it's worth. Just remember, you are the customer and the customer is ALWAYS right. :R

Good Luck
