Any June/early July gatherings planned?

Postby Sodapop Teardrop » Wed May 09, 2007 1:29 pm

Hey South Central!
The Giese's are going to be childless for 6 weeks while #1 Son is a camp counselor for the Scouts. Any gatherings in June or early July? We might hit the road and enjoy the teardrop by ourselves for a change! 8)

ITG in Minden, NE is June 15ish. You'd have to find the ITG thread to be positive. You should try to make it up there, it only happens every 2 years and you get to meet a lot of people from all over the country. There will be a small contingent from the South Central area (Myself, Julie, Carol, and others) so there will be some familiar faces.

yep, like Rocky said... and if you want there is another couple that booked July 5 & 6 over there at Strayhorn Landing , it's on Lake Tenkiller , kinda south of the Tulsa Area.

I am not sure of any date, but me Karol and Todah have talked of doing something on Lake Texoma or Lake Murray. And then be sure to check out the Pettit Jean gathering for late July in Arkansas. That's closer to your neck.

See ya soon ---- make plans for Minden!!!

Aw, another gathering. I assume that is somewhere between Scranton, PA and Justin, TX via Greenville, S.C. Just where is Lake Tenkiller? Are you planning on being there Julie. I think we could make that one on our way home via Justin, TX.

Lake Tenkiller is on the eastern side of Oklahoma, kinda south and east of Tulsa. There are lots of good lakes up and around there. You go north from I-40 on hwy 100 I think to the Gore, OK area.

For a quick map reference, Tenkiller is between hwy 69 and hwy 59 just north of I-40. Kinda east of Muskogee.

You would want to stop at Lake Tenkiller between Greenville and Justin, unless you want to do some serious back-tracking.

Yep, that's what I'm looking at. A gathering somewhere between Greenville and Justin the first/second week of July. Because once I leave Justin, the tear is headed straight home. Vacation over. :(

Gage if you are taking I-30 south out of Little Rock, Arkansas From I-40 you might try a stay atLake De Gray State Park . I have never camped there but if it is like the rest of the Arkansas State Parks I have camped at you will have a pleasant stay. That would be in the direction to be in line to Justin,TX from Greensville,SC. Just a thought. I hope it might help in you travel.

I was thinking parks.
Sorry Gage the gathering that Julie is at that weekend would be along I-40 then you head north from Hwy-82 to Vian,OK. Just say on Hwy-82 till you come to a "T" in the highway which will be Hwy-100. From there Julie will have to direct you toward Staghead Landing.

I can vouch for Lake DeGray. I was a COE park ranger one summer in college. HSU is in Arkadelphia 8miles from the lake. Wish I still lived close. :( Beside the State park there are several COE campgrounds, Iron Mtn. is my favorite , a golf course ,etc.
