Update Saturday night... Florida wildfires.
Both I-10 and I-75 are still closed near Live Oak and Lake City, FL
The two huge fires in S. Georgia & N. Florida have now destroyed
more than 330 square miles! Sure hope it rains tomorrow. :o

They say that the smoke from the fire(s) up north at the border is visible all the way to Miami, but when I got in the car yesterday morning, visibility couldn't have been more than 20 feet. Now, that could have been a combination of smoke and fog, but it was bad.

Anyway, this morning, the stink is still unbelievable, and the smoke haze is still intense--it just SEEMS like it's getting better because you get used to it.

But what I can't figure out is whether what I'm getting is more the result of the fires up north, or the ones directly west of me off Aliigator Alley.
Here we go again!

It's dang sure smokey up here. Unbelievable traffic gridlock too.
Then there is the amazingly stupid people who just drive right
on through smoke when they cant see chit... and crash. We had
a bunch of those yesterday. Who knows what today will bring!

I keep this website handy during fire season, http://www.inciweb.org/ just type in the state or look at the national reports. It usually has the daily incident reports, sometimes pictures.

Better hope that smoke clears up before it hits Mexico or we'll be responsible for that too!!

Hope nobody is in the way of it down there!!

Dang! Sorry to see all the damage. In western N. Dakota we are experiencing drought too. There was a state wide burn ban last summer over the entire state. It wouldn't take much to set us a blaze like Florida and California.

Well the smoke finally made it to Hot 'Lanta. Nothing but a haze around here this morning from the fires down south. Pretty doggone thick too I might add.

Smoke started moving in between 4:00 & 5:00 am this morning.

Smog alert this morning started off at Code Orange but they have moved it to Code Red.

So far, (I think I'm correct) 345,000 acres have burned in Georgia alone. No telling how much acreage in Florida.

I poked it with a stick..........
