Weekender Mods

I love the way the weekender looks, my only problem is the space you are losing by sloping the back end so severly. I would liketo build something in the weekender mode and be able to sleep two male adults. How abotu some ideas for a 4x8 or 5x8 weekender design with a bunck bed element to it? Any ideas???????????????? I know it may be impossible but if anyone can figure it out Im sure the people in this room can.

Why not use a trundle bed in a 5' wide Weekender, like this one...

One requirement for the original Widget was for two bunks to be used by guys - there's even a removable locker (US: nightstand?) between the bunks to avoid those awkward roll-over-and-hug moments.....

 K---now wouldn't a removable board between two guys be easier and still prevent those huggy moments. 8)

Then if you really want a huggy moment it wouldn't involve making a whole new bed situation. ;)

5' wide wouldn't be much different than a 2 person tent. Sleeping bags should solve any problems. Then, when you want to bring someone to hug with you don't have the opposite problem.

Old what's her name and I had a huggy moment Sunday night in the roofless 5x10 with one wall up. It was purely in the interest of design however I had to check for leg and hip room and stability in case of high winds or something

Hi Jeeper,

I know that most guys are sensitive to sleeping in the same bed, but as Elumia pointed out, you could use two sleeping bags to mitigate the problem. If you camp solo or with a girlfiend, you have given up the comfort of a larger sleeping area.

If you really want the division make the trailer wide enough for two single foam mattresses side by side. Add a removable divider between the mattresses for guys-only trips. Remove the divider and slide the mattresses together for solo or mixed gender trips.

If you sell the trailer at some point in the future, a single sleeping area will be more attractive to most potential buyers.

I have a queen size mattress in my "weekender" style trailer. Take a look at my website for lots of pictures and info.

Joanne

Oh yeah, doors on both sides so no one has to crawl over the other to take care of nature at night....

Heh, I read this and thought of the morning wakeup from "Plains, Trains and Automobiles"w/ Steve Martin and John Candy...

[waking up after sharing the same bed in a motel]

Neal: Del... Why did you kiss my ear?
Del: Why are you holding my hand?
Neal: [frowns] Where's your other hand?
Del: Between two pillows...
Neal: Those aren't pillows!

Both men run around screaming and begin to talk about football...

I took Mikes plans and built one 5x10 on 5x10 frame. Got a 59.5 x 8' cabin space. Two average size guys can sleep good. One kid can sleep cross ways under the cabinets. My galley is where I made more room, its 2' because I'd rather have sleepn' space than cookin' You can this plan on a larger trailer or frame. IMO 4 or more in a tear or weekender is to close. When mines done car shows and swap meets is whats its for.
