New to the Forum and Tears

Postby mattck » Wed May 23, 2007 6:42 pm

Hiya everyone,

A new person here from Omaha, NE. Bought my Little Guy approx. 2 months ago. I'm hoping to attend the Minden Gathering depending on work and weather. I've been out in the little trailer over a couple of weekends so far and it's been real fun. I still have a few things I'd like to finish - electricity being one. I've already purchased a PetCool and have come up with getting it 'ported' through the screens on either side. I'll have to upload some pics of that at some time.

I have found really great information on this site and hope I could contribute something at some point.

Here's some pics of my set-up so far:

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum (now that doesn't happen often). I was just out in Omaha a few months ago after having been away for 15 years. Wow, has it grown. How do you like the Little Guy? We just got a Little Guy dealer in the area, but I haven't managed to get over there yet (while they are open that is).

Anyway, welcome.

Congrats and welcome (from another new member)! :applause:

Nice looking rig! I hope that's a queen sized bed...that's a big dog!

Give a report on the petcool later if you don't mind; I'd really like to know what you think of it. (Thanks...in advance)

Omaha has grown - I was born here and can remember what is now more central Omaha being West Omaha.

I like the Little Guy real well so far. I've only been out in it on two weekends. I'm still trying to figure some things out such as what equipment to get. I had no idea teardrops were this popular and had no idea that a person could build their own.

Thanks for the welcome! :D

Extremly close. I put the AC under the trailer and bought additional duct that runs up to the screen. The pieces a person is supposed to screw into the walls are flat, so I can position them up to the screen and drop the window down to secure them into place. The problem I ran into was the screen cavity ... it was filling with cold air causing the AC to shut down prematurely. I created a 'pillow' with two holes in it to fill the screen cavity so the air passes straight past the screen. It's a little hard to explain and I should have pics very soon.

The pillow allowed me to keep the screens intact and give me the ability to use either door for the AC.

Welcome........ Is that tent a product Little Guy sells , or did you get it elsewhere?
Do you ever get NE of Omaha over in NE Iowa along the Mississippi? Beautiful country over there.

The tent is made by another company, PahaQue. It is made just for the little guy, the reason they're able to put the little guy logo all over the tent.
I think it can be purchased from Little Guy, I went through a distributor in San Diego.

It's not the easiest to set up, it does take two people. But it is well made and fairly large.

About the furthest I've been out camping (not with the little guy) is west to CO at Red Feather lakes. I hope to plan a trip later this summer up again but this time with the lg.

Edit: PahaQue also makes the tent for T@Bs as well.

For what it's worth, here is my PetCool porting.

First pic kind of shows the gap between the glass and the screen. This is the cavity that was filling with air causing the AC to shutdown before cooling the interior.

Image

This pic is the 'pillow' to fill that gap.

Image

I then put the tubes/ducts up to the pillow and align to the holes. The flat pieces fit well in the glass groves at the bottom of the door, just inside the rubber seal.

Image

I then slide the glass down over the flat pieces to press them up against the pillow.

Image

Here's the look from the inside of the door. The pillow puts very little stress on the screen and allows the air to pass straight through.

Hi. This is a great place to talk to other teardroppers and get ideas. I love the side tent for your TD. I travel with 2 dogs also. My husband and I wont make Minden this year but maybe next year.
