Thanks Scott for you and Nobody handling the traffic while I'm been busy.
I'm sure there will be sites available. The question is where in the park, but they are all in walking distance of each other ( some up hill ).
Hope to see all at the end of July!

Okay, update..... Today my oldest son Scott (18 1/2 and just outta high school) was supposed to go to MEPS and do the last of the enlistment process.... Well,,, this weekend he figured out they were telling him one thing then telling him another. He had auditioned for the band and thought he was going to be in the 145th Army Band but now he hears something different and can't get hold of the guy he auditioned for... so he's not doing the enlisting ... at least not right now.

And I might be getting an offer on my house soon! cross your fingers!

So anywho... July and Petit Jean is a go ! I'll have to do the reserving later.

Julie, glad to hear you plan to head to Petit Jean. KLook forward to seeing you and the updates to the JewelBox.

About your son's experiences, I can't say much about the Army since I was in the Air Force, however, I always tell people that are considering the military, make sure you get the job you want. The Air Force, used to call it "Enlisting Open Career", that means the Air Force puts you where they need you, however, you could also go in with the job “guaranteed”. To me, that is the only way to enlist, get the job you really want.

I hope he get’s it straightened out, and best of luck to him.

I called this morning and reserved site #48 for Friday 7/27 thru Sunday 7/29. I am looking forward to meeting some of you in Arkansas the end of July.

I believe it is a 7-8 hour drive for me. I should be arriving after dark. I hope that I don't disturb anyone while making camp Friday evening.

Thanks Loader! Actually he got in touch with his last year's ass't school band director, who is a Sgt in the 145th Army band and has him auditioning on tuba today at 10 am ... not much difference between baritone and tuba so that will at least secure him in the band!!!

Thanks for ALL the military -- they have my utmost respect!

I Can't Drive "55", but the campsite looks like it will work. We'll be there Friday afternoon. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Not sure what's up, but... I got my confirmation letter today from Petit Jean and I was billed $27.00 per night for a total of $59.26 for two nights.

I was told on the phone that the sites were $17.00 per night or $18.66 w/ taxes.

Anyone know what's up.?

I'll have to call them tomorrow.

The letter states that even if I cancel or change I'm out $29.63 for the first night's deposit.

I'm not sure what happened but the rate you where told over the phone was the correct rate.
I paided $37.?? total taxes and all for the ( Friday and Saturday night )weekend.
Did you pay thru website like Reserve America or some other site or did you call the Park itself?
The campsite you stated is in the Area "B" and the sites in that are are what you where told over the phone. That is a State set rate for all Arkansas campsite with classfication.

Call Petit Jean State Park's number listed at the top or their website.

Sorry for your problem let us know what happens.

I called the number off of the Petit Jean SP website (same # listed in this thread). Direct to the park itself. The young lady quoted me $17 or 18.66 for the first night deposit.

She read off some off the names I remembered from this forum & I said that I wanted to camp in the "B" section or "B" loop. We both decided that site 48 was available so that's what I reserved.

Sorry about that.
Let us know what you find out when you talk to the Park.
I'm not sure where the additional amount came into the price.
If you can get a price break down.

Problem resolved. I have been moved to site 45. Apparently sites 47 & 48 have Electric (50amp), Water & Sewage hookups and cost more. The young lady who helped me reserve the site missed that when she picked that site to get me near the rest of the group. Good thing they sent me a letter or I wouldn't have known until I got there and the other sites were taken.
