It is with an extraordinary sigh of relief that I post this picture of my beautiful Maple bent on my beautiful birch.

I put boiling water in a 3" pvc tube and closed it off with tin foil for 15 minutes. It is like rubber but quickly cools. 3 more bad ones and some easy curves. :phew: :woohoo:

Great! I'm glad you found a way to beat it into submission. Err... I mean convince it to gracefully follow your contours.

   8) ;) Just add a little heat. Melts like butter. The real test will be if it keeps it's form when dry. :worship:

Thank you all. Your encouragement is appreciated more than you know.

Thank you, all of you so much...Your kind words mean the world to me.

I have a HATCH! A real hatch that opens and closes. But it was too hot to keep working in the top of the garage to put the waterproof barrier on. Got some pond liner (pvc) so it should shed water. ;)

I will get some more this evening.

:D Hi Martha! Yes I am excited but tired. Just going to the HD, Lowes and the hardware store wore me out then we hung the monster hatch. Got to find some really good lifts cause it is heavier now than when it was on the ground. Had to take a heat break so....

Funny how you get past 50 and the heat becomes such an issue.

PS~it was exciting watching yours too. Especially the wheels. ;)

Thank you Barrie. I am beginning to think it might get done after all. The door is drying and most of the trim is up.

I get the impression that the forum does help quite a bit. It gives people hope that they can also do it, and gives some form of accountability not to give up. I find that very encouraging.

I looked at your build album, and saw a photo where you badly cut your finger. This must have been some time ago. What happened?

Also, I see you are from MO. My American geography is bad - is that Montana?

Keep well,
Barrie

Miriam,

Just want everyone to know I think it looks great, and I can see it up close. You have done an excellent job and 98-1/2% of it by your self.

My question is when I start mine, will you give me your excellent assistance, because I am sure it would really save me some time.

If we don't have to replace all the power tools due to heavy use.

Anyway, it is almost complete and it is going to be a real beauty.

:applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

Job well done !!!!!

Barrie, I am sorry, I am at work and did not catch your question when I scanned your post. I was not ignoring you, just reading too fast. We are in a suburb of Joplin Missouri in the southwestern part of the state. Sorry
for my oversight.
