Yeah, I EDITED that record, but it's still on record.

War Eagle..... If your trailer sides are 1' high, and you make your "Root cellar" about 6 or 7", and then put your floor in, you will have enough room for the mattress and still sit on the edge of the door comfortably..... since your a big guy (your words). The only problem I see is accessing your cellar from the outside.. because you still have the side rails attached. You would have to access it from inside....under the mattress, and what others have said.... that can be a real pain. :)

Ira, that's kinda what I meant to say.

Micro, year that's one of my concerns is having enough access to that large storage area from the sides. I'm thinking that I could cut the railing to allow the full 1ft height access. I think the main things I would put under there would be two folding canopys, charcoal... larger bulky things that would fit through that 1 ft high opening.  Still thinking.

Another concern is the galley. I don't think I like the idea of the counter top being a ft taller than normal and if I drop it down to the trailer floor what's that going to do to my profile and my hatch?

I was thinking about how to support the floor of the cabin without adding too much weight or taking up too much space. My first thought were to attach a couple 2x4 supports (side to side) to prevent sagging. That would be OK but I think it may take up a good bit of my storage space. My next thought was to use 2x2's for the frame and then add a couple posts down the center for support. Again, that would hinder my storage area. This morning as I was leaving for work I noticed the angle iron (?) used to support/ install my garage door opener. You know, the 2 inch angle iron type product with all the holes in it? Do you think that would provide enough support for the 3/4 inch ply floor to keep it from sagging if installed from side to side about every 2 feet? How about if that were combined with a 2x2?

BTW, I'm back from teh beach and ready to get started. I plan to buy my flooring materials this weekend and get my base started.
