Dear folks

Has anyone ever used the Vinyl for Teardrops as for oldie cars? Is it expensive there and how has the material held up?

The tango cover on my last pickup truck was a vinyl-impregnated canvas. Was on the truck for four years. It looked as good as new when I sold the truck. I think that material would work well if glued down! I have seen the stuff on several web sites at very good prices and in several colors besides black. It can be supplied in about 6’ wide.
There are several teardrops with the top done that way. One of the pictures was a woody truck pulling a woody tear but I can’t think of where I saw the picture.

Warpony has the stuff that looks like diamond plate aluminum, in vinyl.

Yes that is the stuff I was looking at but it only comes in 54" wide.
My tear will be 58". I want to cover the top and an 1" down the sides.

Joanne Fabric has a good selection of "Marine Vinyl" the quality looks very good and the color range provides a wide choice. I believe I am going to go with a vinyl top over the outer skin.

You have to be careful with Marine fabrics, as some are vinyl on both sides. With that type you can’t glue it down, as the glue will release from the vinyl. It’s hard to get any thing to stick to vinyl except bird poo and road grim. But that does not make good glue, just a mess!

What sort of padding if wanted could a person use underneath? Foam?

Ive never worked with vinyl but just maybe I,ll soon find out..
