Dishwasher Question

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Dishwasher Question

Postby elmo » Tue Jun 19, 2007 9:44 am

Here I thought I was going to have the first appliance question, but War Pony beat me to it. :(

I have a 2 year old Kenmore Dishwasher...it blows water, but doesn't really spin the propeller looking things. Are these moved by water pressure or a motor and is there a reset switch or something? I don't want to call someone in and have them push a button and charge me $100. Any input would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Elmer

In my Bosch DW, they are pushed by water pressure. They should spin freely when not in use. If they don't, I would try to figure out why.

They are spinning freely....I am looking all over the internet for a answer, but no luck. I may have to wake up the Maytag Repairman.

If you have pressure and the blades aren't turning, chances are you have a blockage or a HUGE leak before the water get to the center of the pivot. Heck, take 'er apart and see what cooks, if a man built it - a man can fix it!!!

Could be the fins on the pump are no longer attached to the motor shaft and so the pump no longer produces proper pressure.

That happened on mine once. The motor spun, but the fins had broken loose from the motor shaft, and then the pump made no pressure.

I was able to fix it that time, but later the whole thing gave out big time, so I had to replace it.

Good luck.

When our washing machine went on the blink last year, I just had my wife do the laundry on a big rock we had sitting out in the backyard.

This has been working out fine for me so far.

It has been broke for a couple of days now and the dishes are starting to back up because she is in Charlotte, NC.. I may have to go buy some more soon if I can't get this thing fixed.

I already have one too many.

Has anyone seen the carpet cleaning commercial with the kids yelling to his mom..."Look at Toby's new trick"....and the dog is scooting his butt across the floor? Sorry for some reason I just thought of that.

Time to get a dog.

A man went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a secluded, rural area of the state. After spending the night, his grandfather prepared breakfast for him consisting of eggs and bacon. He noticed a film-like substance on his plate and he questioned his grandfather, "Are these plates clean?"

His grandfather replied, "Those plates are as clean as cold water can get them so go on and finish your meal."

That afternoon, while eating the hamburgers his grandfather made for lunch, he noticed tiny specks around the edge of this plate, and a substance that looked like dried egg yolks. So he asked again, "Are you sure these plates are clean?"

Without looking up from his hamburger, the grandfather says, "I told you before, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them, now don't ask me about it anymore!"

Later that afternoon, he was on his way out to get dinner in a nearby town. As he was leaving, Grandfather's dog started to growl and would not let him pass, "Grandfather, your dog won't let me out."

Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching, Grandfather shouted, " "COLD WATER", GET OUT OF THE WAY!"
"Follow me, I'm right behind you"

Look in the last hole on the arm, that's the one Archimedes put in to make it spin, and make sure an obstruction isn't in it. Beasn, pea, corn kernel etc.
If the pump isn't pumping it won't sound like a wet tornado. Make sure the water level is deep enough.

We had a broken glass and a piece got past the filetr screen and grooved the pump impeller---wash kaput.

Good luck.
