Greetings! Plano, Tx

Postby jeepcrd » Wed Jun 20, 2007 11:31 am

Hello!

My name is Mike and live about 25 miles north of Dallas, TX. I just happen to stumble on this web site by mistake about 3 days ago from the L.O.S.T. web site (Jeep Liberty group) I have not been able to stop reading yet!! (Ok my eyes are getting really dry!)

The great part is my friend moved about a month ago and gave me his HF 4x8 trailer; I had no idea what I was going to do with it. I fig I would just take it apart and use the metal for something else... But then..... here I am, with a 2 page shopping list already!

Im thinking of a grasshopper (I think that’s right) type... but who knows... I guess ill find out what im going to build when the saw and wood tells me what im building! LOL!

I spend most of my days sitting in an office working on legal docs for the sale of Learjet’s. When I get home, I spend a lot of time riding on my motorcycle that I have chopped out and turned into a show bike.(Yamaha V-Star 1100 Custom) and when im not doing that I spend about 5 hours a week making my own bio-diesel at home. (Works out to be about $0.19 per gal and I get 37 mpg!!!)

My GF and I do a lot of tent camping and kayaking here in Texas. So now that I found you guys (and Gals!) I think im just going to jump right in and start a build come mid July.

Well enough about me... I must get back to reading past posts! (and I guess I should do some work here in the office since im here anyway!)

Welcome to the Teardrop world! Looks like you were meant to have a teardrop, getting the HF trailer and finding us. I promise, you will have a great time, this is a great bunch of people and all the help you could want.
If you get a chance to come to a gathering it would be a great chance to view a lot of different ideas. You would be welcome what ever you brought to sleep in. (Our first gathering we had a motorhome).
 :applause:

Looking forward to meeting you!

Welcome! The idea does just kinda grab ya doesn't it?

I spend about 5 hours a week making my own bio-diesel at home

You make your own fuel?? Didn't know that was even remotely possible. I don't run a diesel, but know a couple people who might be interested...if nothing else, I'd love to learn how for kicks. Do you have a link for general info?

You are in for some fun now. Might cut into some of your other activity's. but you will know you are hooked, when you are sitting some friday night looking at a pile of sticks and your imagination soars and suddenlly it turns into a cutting board counter top,,,no,, wait,,, it is the tongue box with the solid brass hinge and hasp, or cabinets for the cab with 1000 watt speakers and dvd with satelite 30" color T.V. and you are so lost in thought your drink can hits the deck and shakes you back to reality, and it turns back into a pile of sticks.

Welcome and be sure to look under the South Central thread, there is a campout slated for Joe Pool lake in Sept, in the meantime there are plenty of td owners from Denton to Ennis and could give you a personal look. I would strongly encourage you to look at one in person, pick up the hatch, crawl in, get the feel for it... with the girlfriend too. These TD's are so darn cute !!!
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

If you're just about to start building a TD, you're not allowed to do that yet. You're only allowed to dream about it.

In a year, you can go camping.

HAH!!!

Welcome, and good luck with the build!
Here we go again!

Welcome Mike!

I am just up the road from you. I am East of Waco. Which Aircraft Industry do you work for? I worked several years at L3 and Raytheon before going into the medical field. I haven't built a TD yet,but I have sure spent many nights reading all the builds here. I am still having a hard time deciding on a model. JUst when I think I know what I want, I see something else. Anyways, good to met you.
