Washer Game

Postby parivercat » Fri Jun 15, 2007 10:33 am

Went camping a couple weeks ago with a friend and coworker of mine and he brought a washer game he had made . He called it a polish horseshoe game. It had 3 holes in the board. the back hole was 3 1/2 the middle one 4 and the front one 4 1/2. you play to 21 front hole 1 point middle hole 2 points back hole 3 points. It was a lot of fun so I came home and made myself one but different. I have one hole in the board but use 3 different size washers. 1 point for smallest washer 2 points for middle washer and 3 points for the bigest washer. Been playing in the evening with the neightbors lots of fun. Whats your favorite outdoor game for camping or at home?

Instead of The Polish horseshoe game many know this game by "Washoe"

The game is called "Washoe" > Washoe Rules clicky

Has anybody here played "Cornhole?" I had a few friends in from Stockton, CA back in April and they looked at me like I had slapped them when I asked if they had played "Cornhole." Before anyone who doesn't know gets the wrong idea, it's really a game! I swear it! Two boards and a couple of beanbags, that's all it takes. I'll find a link if anyone is interested.

We like to play the game - "PASS THE PIGS" It is basically a dice game - buy instead of dice you throw little plastic pigs. Toss two pig "dice" and see how they land-- it determines how many points you get. For example, if both pigs land on their feet you score a Double Trotter for a whopping 20 points.

A neat game

Yes, there's actually an ACA (American Cornhole Association).

Has anyone played Ladder Golf, Bolo Toss. etc? (didn't search forum)
I played this at a company picnic this week and won my first try. It is played in teams of two on opposite ends like horseshoes. I might actually try to make one... (and pigs may fly)

You know your game has made it to legitimate status when it shows up on the front page of the Wall Street Journal (even though Paris isn't aware of that publication). In today's edition : http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118299527491351006.html?mod=hpp_us_pageone
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

We play alot of those games. We like Beanbags(cornhole) the best. We also play ladder golf, and the washer game. Our washer game is different in the fact that ours is a wooden box about 2'x2' square, 6" high, with a coffee can bolted in the middle. 3 points in the can, 2 points in the box, and if nobody get one in either, 1 point for the closes to the box. The washer game is pretty loud for playing late at night.

How about Quarters, where you try to "slam" a quarter onto a table and have it bounce up and land in an empty beer glass. You start two quarters at opposite sides of a table., shooting into the same empty glass. Once you score, you pass the quarter to the next guy. If the other quarter catches up to you, you have to pound your full glass of beer. Needless to say, the quality of play diminishes in time.

[I used to shoot about 50% back when I was an Aggie]

I have "Pass the Pigs" but it is the "old" version from the 1970's before its name changed, when it was called "Pig Mania." It is pretty funny.

"Shut the Box" is another fun game. Our neighbor at the ITG2, Mickey, had this game and taught it to our son, Jon. On the way home, when we were stuck with car problems, Jon taught me how to play it, but with cards instead of the boxed version. It was a lot of fun. We are going to pick up the boxed version.

We also take Skipbo, Mille Bornes, and Yahtzee along.

The problem I had with this game was I'd try to lose to start because I was thirsty and then had to try to win at the end, usually proved much harder then losing
