bendable plywood question

I bought 3/8 thick bendable lauan for my outside skin and while it is very bendable it also is not very smooth. Has anyone used this and what if anything was done to smooth it out, just sand it or do I need to fill it in with a sealant/leveler? I will be painting it.

D, wwe used bendy..the outside was skinned with AL, so no problem there...the ceiling was a different animal and took much time to sand, anywhere near smooth...the present build will not be AL but a colored epoxy resin...a couple of clear coats to start with and then I will see if sanding alone is sufficient or if I need to add a thickner to the epoxy to finish filling out any rough spots...keep in mind that bendy has a VERY OPEN grain and will soak up a lot of whatever you seal with...also check to see if it has a "show" side or not..........

We used the 3/8" bendable for our roof. We used bondo to make it smooth. Could use epoxy resin, I've never used that but there are posts talking about using to make smooth finish.
We used bondo all over the tear, top, sides, doors, hatch. Only need a thin coating plus whatever it takes to fill the crevasses, dings etc. Sand that down until smooth. We painted with latex high gloss enamel & no wood grain showing.
