Matt, very good of you. Cast iron, games, and music. I'll bring fire wood, an appetite, a plate and a fork. Haven't met Gage yet but I've seen pictures of his traveling tool set. Wonder if he'll show up? BTW, do you still want to do Tee shirts? Doug Hodder has something up his sleeve.

Thanks, Steve B

Adding to things to do: http://www.geocaching.com has a few caches near Montana do Oro. There are some spectacular photos taken from up in the hills looking out over the ocean to see here. Until today I didn't know we have an Easter Island rock carving on one of the hillsides. Looks like a fun way to burn off calories.

I was actually making a joke about planning activities. I like the idea that this is being planned as a low-key event. Having never been to a teardrop gathering, I have nothing to compare it to.

I was tempted to ask the other members of my barbershop quartet to show up so that we could put on a little show on Saturday night. The problem with that idea is that it puts all the trailer builders into the role of audience. And the other three members are not teardrop folks. They are excited about my build, but one of them owns a 300 foot travel trailer. So they wouldn't be planning on camping and its not a short drive from Santa Cruz.

Okay, I exaggerated just a bit. It's not really 300 foot, but it seems like it. It's one of those rigs with all the comforts of home. So that when you are out in it, you think, "Maybe we shoulda stayed home?"

I know that Saturday is the potluck night. That seemed like a good time for a show. Everybody would be there. But I'll probably save that sort of thing for another occasion.

What do you suppose the weather will be like in September? I've got a motorcycle with a sidecar. Might be fun to bring it along.

The weather at MdeO in mid Sept. will most likely be comfortably warm and sunny during the daytime, with little if any fog. Rain would be unexpected. Coming inland to SLO, it'll be warmer than on the coast. Temperatures in different parts SLO county vary considerably. Inland north county areas around Atascadero and Paso Pobles are usually much hotter. Their daytimes often are 20 degrees warmer than the city of SLO's temperature.

Bring clothes for both hot and cool weather. Have clothes you can put on in layers. Especially if you go site seeing around the county during the day and into evenings.

If you talk your barbershop buddies into coming they can park the long, long trailer at nearby Morro Bay State Park. Matt's offered his musical entertainment. Maybe we'd have a bit of a talent show on Sat. evening along with the pot luck.

I haven't been to a gathering either. One thing I've read is that sometimes people bring chili that all goes into one pot for a chili feed.

Hi,

Is it too late to RSVP for a spot? I am trying to get my schedule together for the remainder of the year and this is one I would like to attend if possible.

If it helps sway the judges, I'll bring cast iron...

Hi Joanne and Lee,

Hope you both make it to the SLO Gathering. Before adding your names to the list of people with camp spots "on hold" I need to ask the camp host for more.

Joanne, I've been inspired by you and the information you share on your Desert Dawg website...it'd be a pleasure to meet you in person at our growing gathering by the sea. Especially if you bring your cast iron.

We have 24 camp sites "on hold" (a verbal handshake agreement) with the camp host out of the 46 camping sites in the MdeO campground. The first 24 people who RSVP'd have dibs on one of the "on hold" sites. The other 22 camp sites will be first come first served for anyone.

I'll go by MdeO soon to talk to the camp host to see if we can put a few more spots "on hold", and include you two. She has no phone and infrequently goes into town for email access. I'll post an update soon.
