I always unhook the camper and roll it back to the end of the site. Since it's small enough to fit on the pad sideways, I place it like that. I like seeing what's going on in front of me.

Steve, As always your pics are delightful. Thanks. Are two coats of epoxy necessary? My camper is larger than most teardrops, and I've used almost my whole gallon plugging holes (wood flour) and sealing the wood (roll on). Second question: what kind of paint did you use on top of the epoxy? Thanks for your help.

HMK - It was a rushed trip, and I was spending all of my time with a couple of friends. Next time I'll let people know where/when I'm going to be with the camper and allow some time to let you guys check it out.

Hudsonite - I don't think two coats are necessary. Two is probably better, but then again, three is probably better than two. I used regular house paint. Exterior latex. Good luck.

I can't remember where I got the tongue box. It's a big plastic storage box that I got from Walmart, HomeDepot, or someplace like that? It's actually a little larger than what I need. I keep my gasoline can, lantern, coleman stove, and tent stakes in there.

I just have #8 wood screws in it now. I'll need to drill it out and used recessed screws, but that's low on my priority list at the moment.

I spent about $3 to get my sprayer/shower rigged up today.


I cut the spray nozzle down to about 2" long so it will fit in the palm of my hand. I removed the hose that came with the unit and added about 6' of clear 1/4" hose.

I'll install a small hanger at the top of the shower/bathroom to hang the handle on. All of the sprayers I've used have a small locking clip so it can remain on, or I can use it by squirting it.

Nice and simple.

Can you really take a shower with that. Lets say you manage to get wet, and soap up. How long would it take to rinse all that soap off?

Can, and have many times.

It takes me less than a gallon of water. I think the pressure is what makes it seem to go much further than you'd think a gallon of water would do.

Nice. I love Duckworks! That looks like a nice setup. You could use it as a solar, or pour hot water into it from a camp stove too.

Another thing about the pressurized showers is you don't have to hang them. You can leave them at the bottom of the shower, and there is pressure to rinse, not just gravity.

Another quick project accomplished on the Puffin today:


I mounted an exhaust fan in the AC box today. I hid the wires in the conduit that I used for my TV power box, so there are no visible power cords in the camper.

This fan makes all the difference inside too. It keeps the camper cooler (my thermostat seldom moves from the 1/2 point) and keep the interior counter above the AC box cool. It would get warm in the hottest part of the day from the hot air rising to the counter top.

I can unplug it from the hidden outlet during the winter, or if I don't want it running for some reason.

It also appears that I need to install a few more stainless screws in my hatch mount.
