Some more progress pics to post.

Image

Here's the framing completed for what will be the bathroom. The floor is raised up, and the tank will be installed between the BR floor and the real trailer floor. Completely protecting it from the bumps of the road (or the off-road)

Image

Here is the closet framed in. The 45 degree corner was a pain, but should make it easier to slip into the dinnette seat.

Image

The furnace is intalled in the lower part of the closet. It will be boxed over before all is done.

Image

Image

Here you can see the progress in the galley. The lower cabinets are all but built. Gotta put a top on, and install the sink and stove. Some sheeting left to do on the sides of the cabinets as well.

Image

Here is a Cig lighter out of an old car, that will suffice as a nice 12V DC outlet for the kids to plug their portable nintendo's into. This one is under the top bunk, but there will be one nearer to the front of the trailer as well.

That's the general idea...

I just spent two days and nights in a tent under heavy rainfall warnings this weekend, and I'm looking forward to having a solid roof and walls someday.

More progress today...

Started in on the aluminum siding....

Image

Here's the future occupant trying out his bunk...

Image

And I purchased cloth to upholster the dinnette seats and curtain material. The stripes are the cushions and the yellow for the curtains.
Should tie the stove and sink colours in nicely, and since those are recycled, I did not choose the colour, but it will be fine.

Gerald,
Your trailer build is amazing. :applause: :applause: :applause:
Going from the beginning until present, really gives a sense of how a trailer is built.
By the time you are done, you will have a very nice high quality little trailer. So much nicer than it was originally I'm sure. Its amazing what you have done with your recycled floor & cabinet doors.
Thanks for a clear basic step by step build. :applause:

Thanks for the note Martha.

Here's some more progress, and some more pics.

I hope to have it water tight next week, and move it out of the garage and attach to the floor and wheels.

I'm going hiking this weekend though !! wahoo

Siding the Drivers side as well. Not many windows thankfully...

Image

Here's progress on the passenger side. Starting to get the windows going as well..

Image

And the rear is coming along. The marker lights work ! Yay ! - also hooked up a tail light with alligator clips to see if the tail light wires were ok. Yay they are...

Took a week off work to Get 'R Done.

I am planning in camping in it starting Fri for 10 days, so I'm busy busy on the trailer. I'm posting as I take a wee break from the blistering sun, to avoid getting over cooked out there.

Two nights ago, my Dad, Bro' in law, and I got the body and frame out of the garage and attached to each other. With ample supervision from my Mom and Wife, we got busy.

I do not recommend this build method, bacause there is a lot more work involved than at first I thought doing it this way.

Here we are sliding the body out of the garage on skids.

Image

Then we start jacking it up and blocking it in the air, so we can slide the fram underneath.

Image

Next to retrieve the frame and floor from where it was stored on it's side in the garage. We had to put on a tire first.

Image

Then we start sliding the frame under from the rear. This photo is somewhat staged, since we really did not lift by hand, we used my tire jack.

Image

Once underneath, we lowered the trailer body back down onto the frame and floor, and tada, a Tiny Travel Trailer is born.

Image

This took us till midnight, and I must say, it is a lot easier to simply describe it and post pics than to execute this manouver in reality.

More to come.....

Gerald

Where did you get the alum siding? Was it expensive?

Mike...

P.S. Your trailer looks good!

A friend of mine is in RV repair. He sold it to me at cost it was around $800 Canuck dollars. About 1/2 of the trailer total cost I figure.
