(The Puffin) New Tiny Trailer

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Steve, I had a simular problems with the A/C and the hot air off the condensor warming up my counter and sink.... I found an easy fix that seems to of worked great as well.. I used some aluminum flashing and just basically made a duct (just the top and two sides, left the bottom open for drainage if needed, basically bent the flashing around the top and sides).. Screwed the duct to the a/c cover with a few screws and used some duct tape to seal it tightly to the A/C. The duct runs all the way between the A/C and my outer wall with the vent, now the hot air cant rise, instead just gets pushed straight out. This increased the airflow coming out of my vent ALOT... Now the only problem I seem to be having is the stupid condensation forming on my wondows when the campers too cold inside :?

Also not sure how you plan to catch the shower water, if even at all, but here is how I collect my sink water.. I think someone here posted something simular as well, and to think I thought I was being so smart and creative, only to see someone beat me to it...

That is a washing machine flexible drain hose.. You can see how I just attached it direcly to the pvc with a hose clamp, might be something you could use.. You can also see my shrould for the a/c in that pic (before the duct tape though)..

Cool setup man! I'm not nearly that fancy with my grey water setup. I have the same blue water container, but I just slide it under my camper and line it up with the hole in the shower pan. I think I'll do something like your setup - that looks a lot better than mine.

I see what you're talking about with the flashing. I placed some styrofoam on top of my AC similar to your flashing, but it just doesn't work nearly as well as the exhaust fan does.

Isn't it awesome being too cold in the middle of summer in these things!?

Have you crashed inside your camper yet to see how well you'll sleep in there? How is all the body work coming?

Yah its awsome being able to step inside and cool off while working... As far as crashing inside the camper, after working on it most of the day and into the night long after my daughter and wife have gone to bed I have fallen asleep a couple of nights while taking a break... Absolutely no trouble sleeping, and since it is a full size bed, there should be plenty of room for all of us..

Body work is pretty much done, minus the last coat of epoxy on my door, which Im about to go do right now.. All this rain has forced me to do all my sanding and last two coats of epoxy in the garage :? .. But I will be picking up my paint tomarrow and either start painting tomarrow evening or early saturday morning.... ones again probably inside the garage..

Feels good to finally be at this stage in the build........

3rd project of the day...

2nd coat of paint on the bathroom. It's really bright. *REALLY* bright in there.

I was going to splatter some black paint in there to break it up, and then I had an idea. Why not paint it like Pink Floyd's "The Wall" album? I could paint it to look like a cinder block wall, and then paint Pink Floyd on it.

It's a very good feeling once you get some paint on there. Make sure to keep us posted - I want to see some pics.

I think I'm heading down to Brazos Bend tomorrow. 50/50 rain, that's the best odds I've seen in a long time.

Steve Frederick & Mary K - Thanks guys. The bathroom has been my least favorite part of the build - by far. It's hard to work in there. I still have some foam work to do in there and hanging a mirror, small shelf, & a speaker to pipe in some Muzak. (Ok, probably not installing the speaker)

I'm off to enjoy some wet camping this weekend. *sloshes out to car*

Ok, that camping trip sucked.

I took my PS2 with me because I figured during the rains I could play some video games. Well, while unloading the car, I managed to drop the PS2 and it no longer works.

So I just sat inside watching the rain fall. I read, fell asleep. Read, fell asleep again. I rode around at night when the rains finally quit and came back and showered to get all of the road grime/grit off of me. The shower works well, but I still need to build up the corners more. I'm actually thinking of cutting the shower floor out and installing a sink or something in there. This would act as a dropped floor, and it would save me from having to build up the sides of the shower pan now.
