Bob, iff'n we got enough snow(any) in GPW's area to crack the roof, you "yankees" will have about 20 foot past your eye bones of snow...that should never be a problem...of course if global warming causes a new ice age, all bets are off

Not again I had all the fun I could stand in "76" during the blizzard.
There is something very humbling when mother nature has rescue crews using snowshoes and 14' cane poles to probe the snow for trapped semi drivers in their rig's. You just can not imagine till you have lived it.

Well, I lived for several years in the Rockies, in an area where 240"s of snow a year was not uncommon...and I might well have been one of the semi-drivers, they were probing for...so...been there...done that...I'll pass...thank you very much

Probably so unless we made the kitchen stuff pretty heavy(stuffed cooler+ a water tank)... The lower bunk could be made into an L shaped bunk across the front , or perhaps a wardrobe further distributing the weight.....Ac on the light side would help... although I really like Big Mike's AC on a slide, mounted on the front with a rock guard/shade... perhaps mount that to the light side of the front ...The floor area was to allow some extra seating ... My Lazy Boy would fit , and surely would balance the trailer... hahahaha

I thought it looked that way too. Then I stocked the kitchen area.
A 30-35 lb cooler full of ice , cold food and drinks far out weight the plastic port-a-pot and a lightly framed shower wall.
The dutch oven , cast iron skillet , other pots and pans and dishware in the bottom storage and a couple bags of dry food stocks above should come in around 50# +/- should far outway the small vanity and mirror stocked with soap and first aid goodies. The only area that may be a little out of balance is the bunk area and only by the weight of bedding and clothes stored underneth and the weight of the bed unit itsself. Loaded this little trailer should balance out closer than it looks. A frame mounted small water tank under the floor at the entry would help to balance out the bunk area.
The fact that the kitchen weight is nose heavy should help with the handeling as well.

Having a "commercial trailer" now , we see that alot of stuff in there is more cosmetic than functional ... heavy propane RVQ , was tossed in favor of my tiny hibachi and solar cooker...Extremely heavy folding table was tossed in favor some nice TV trays (2)...that are easily stowed...
removing heavy objects added another 50+ lbs. to my cargo weight...more room for my stuff...

The wife commented last night about what it must be like to lose everything you owned...alot here did... that's why I told her we have to bring more stuff with us ... just in case...

and who needs an oven for camping ...???

If I were allowed to build a new one , I'd keep the build simple and functional , always calculating the weight /cargo parameters to allow maximum carrying/functional capability ...

You campers (non-evacuees) need to chime in about what makes YOU comfortable on a trip ...I guess short term camping differs from long trips...and depending where you go , different things are needed...

Around here , we're constantly exposed to the new tiny "Katrina houses"...small efficient housing for those who lost everything ... seeing these , one is reminded how Architects seldom design for efficiency, but more for eye appeal ... We've been looking at Tumbleweed homes... Cute , but not all that practical and the plans are ridiculously expensive ($900..+)... Even the wife agrees that a trailer has a better living layout than these ... perhaps Trailer guys should design housing ... we seem to be so much better about using all the space efficiently...allthough the outsides tend to resemble a "canned ham " ...
