Yup they did... here it is...  Does this song sound familiar? :D

On the banks of the river
Stood Runnin' Bear, young Indian brave
On the other side of the river
Stood his lovely Indian maid
Little White Dove was-a her name
Such a lovely sight to see
But their tribes fought with each other
So their love could never be

Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

He couldn't swim the raging river
'Cause the river was too wide
He couldn't reach Little White Dove
Waiting on the other side
In the moonlight he could see her
Throwing kisses 'cross the waves
Her little heart was beating faster
Waiting there for her brave

Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

Runnin' Bear dove in the water
Little White Dove did the same
And they swam out to each other
Through the swirling stream they came
As their hands touched and their lips met
The ragin' river pulled them down
Now they'll always be together
In that happy hunting ground

Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

My point is what's the big deal:

If you had a business that could prosper by servicing Spanish-only speaking folks, you would do it in a heartbeat.

Let's cut through the hypocrisy:

It might bother some of us to hear accommodations being made to people of other languages, but if it put a lot of bucks in your bucket, then it's okay.

I'll never understand why the hell so many people are afraid of "language," especially in a country where we profess to be for free speech.
Here we go again!

I have to agree on that with Ira..

Also we wouldnt be communicating if for an example I didnt speak English with you..Cause I hardly doubt too many speak Finnish or any of the other Scandinavian Languages here...

If the smell of money is in a person speaking different languages and one had a chance to benefit from it.. darn tootn it would be used...Its Worldwide..Boy Howdy where be my dollars ...

But in my case again... Im glad I speak many languages so I can communicate with all of you here..Including to be able to speak Sveeeeedsih with our friend Roly...And in my case it has been more pleasure than business.. :? by far.

Also I have worked as a translator for the European Security Summit held in Helsinki, Finland when Bill Clinton and Boris Yeltsin were Presidents..Now that was interesting..

Okidoki ... or vas it okeeeedoki...   The more languages you are able to speak the more interesting life can be.. other than just making money with it..

I'll throw in a couple of cents for what it's worth. I spent two years in Japan where the language is almost impossible to read let alone speak. If it weren't for signs written both in English and Japanese, one would not get around very easily. (Especially on their subway systems!) And even though one could always find someone who could speak English, learning to speak their language sure made it easier to get around. It impressed them, too to show that I could have a conversation with them in their native language and knew some of the written charactures.
I cut it three times and it's still too short!!
Perfection is all I ask.......

Amen Sunny16...

For me Russian, Polish and even German is the same way...

If they even see that you try somehow to communicate in their own language ... It can bring a nice smile to their faces..  And sure makes it easier to make contact ... :shake hands:  ohhh and to get around.. :phew: Especially in Russia..

I promise though if any of you come to visit us here in Finland ... I,ll speak english to you... ;)

Now why is it I always learn the cuss words 1st in any language Ive learned so far...

My thought is and always will be... If you can speak languages .. speak it.
And dont be afraid of speaking it whatever language it may be..

I think you all are missing the point of that song. In a melting pot country like the USA English has been the accepted language with great success. My Italian grandparents learned the language with a pride in being an American. If the ultra liberal thinkers think it's okay to ask the vast majority to press 1 for their language then why is the alternative Spanish? Why not Finnish or French or whatever. Before illegal immigrants started flowing over our borders English was the national language. Those who are fluent in other languages my hat is off to you but in my country you'll need to speak English to communicate with me. Now Ira can call me all kinds of awful names like before, but please do it in English. Danny

Danny if you call here you dont have to press 1... Ya Press 5 And You,ll accept my English with a Scandinavian Accent...

Here it is Finnish and Swedish and English with Pride as the accepted languages.. However it was a close call that it was almost German or Russian but both unsuccessfully proved themselves wrong... ;) And it wasnt without a challenge of course..

You wanted English ... here ya go.. .....
 :rofl2: :rofl2: We have ourselves the American English and the British English and

NOW

Converting to European English!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Conversion to Euro English...

With the implementation of the Eurodollar underway in Europe these last few years, the European Union is trying to find new ways to standardize practices in Europe.

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five year phase-in plan that would be known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20% shorter.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be ekspekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent "e"s in the language is disgraseful, and they should go away.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi to understand ech ozer. Ze drem vil finali kum tru! And zen world!
