Newbie Here

Hello All,

New to the site, been reading stuff for the last few days. My father and I have decided to do a teardrop as a father/son project. We want to build a very simple 5x8, classic styled tear. I've been researching a ton, and have lots of questions, but I'll save those for another time and topic. Just wanted to say hi, and ask forgiveness now for the seemingly dumb questions I'll be asking in the future. As they say, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people

About 3 1/2 years ago, I was forced to give up my last trailer project. It was a 13' (bumper to ball) Pierce Aro Travel Trailer. Since then, I have finished another project

and am now ready for the next challenge. I think we will be looking to build something very similar to the trailer they have advertised at Sundance as viewed here http://tinyurl.com/2259y7 Ofcourse I have a dream of being able to tow it with my little Datsun Roadster, but not sure if that will really work out, at only 150HP and 2100lbs. That'll be a "wait and see" for now.

BTW, I am a carpenter and pops is an architect, so we have some knowledge in building, so I hope our questions aren't too humdrum, but I certainly prefer to ask a question now than to redo it later. Thanks and have a great day.

The Datsun roaster has plenty of torque, particularly if the transmission is manual--weight: however, should be considered. (I wouldn't sheathe the trailer with depleted uranium)

Now the good news, if you scrounge a little bit and sweat a lot you'll be able to beat the cost of that Sundance by a factor of ten or better.

Good luck and remember--most answers are stupid.

Hey, Michael from Holland is planning to tow with his Trabbie - under 30hp and under 1500lb - so your muscle-car Datsun will find it easy.

Just remember to ask as you make each piece, "does this need to be as heavy as I'm about to make it", and you'll be fine.
