A bit of DO cookin'

Postby Joanne » Sat Jul 14, 2007 12:19 am

I was out practicing a couple of recipes before I head out for a dutch oven gathering. Everything turned out pretty good!

This is some yummy Mexican Cornbread

These are Herb-Garlic rolls

You can cook just about anything in a DO, it just takes a bit of practice.

Mmmmm...biscuits and gravy or country ham and biscuits. Alright, another rule (in addition to Mike's rule): No discussing food until after 10am because that too makes country boys hungry. Let's see, the wife is at work, I guess I may have to run over to the Cracker Barrell and get my fix. Jeez!

Joanne, Maybe you should come out to Mendocino next weekend. You could test all of your recipes on us.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for the kind words! As all that know me will attest, I am a cast iron evangelist. I get to combine two of my favorite activities, camping and cooking!

It sounds silly, but we are starting to have problems getting rid of all the food we cook. A couple of the neighbors have actually complained that they are gaining weight because of all the food we pass along. When I was in the baking class a lot of the goodies were high-calorie pastries.

BobR - Normally I never share my recipes. It's not because they are secret, but because I'm afraid someone will make it better than I do and I don't want to be embarrassed. ;) Seriously, I'll post it in the recipe section.
