del,
In my school years my Dad bought a new 1962 VW bug sunroof. We used to have a blast standing on the back seats and riding out the top of the sunroof{God forbid we do that today}. His VW rusted out ,and looked at a 360 Subaru to replace it,in 69. Didn't buy one because his big feet got caught up in the pedals. Bought a VW bus instead{ us kids were getting bigger} Finally bought a Subaru 1600 4 dr sedan in 78. Had that car until 89,and bought a Justy{first air conditioned, automatic car}. He died in 91 and Mom drove the Justy up to 2 years ago at the age of 90 with only 55k on the odometer. The nephew bought it from her,and drove it to this late winter when he hit some ice on a steep hill, slammed into the back of a recycling truck, and totaled it. I think the Justy actually saved his life ,and he walked away unharmed, but a seat belt bruise. I have had Subarus since 79{a Brat} then 84 wag. to 96 wag. to 05 Outback. I have had very good luck with them. Out of all of them I wish I had my Brat back, what a fun car, killer in the snow.
Wife & I are looking into a Smart car when they get here. Both of us now work close to home, and the RAV 4 does canoe & teardrop duty. Just looking for something different, that's easy on gas for general errand running.
Heres a web page to take you back to early days of Subaru
