Yes tape it where you are going to cut it and make sure you have support for both sides.
I would think you can use car wax on it just make sure it has no abrasives in it. I would use a carnuba wax or a liquid that you wipe on and wipe off

I haven't been on the forum too much as we are getting ready for Mendocino, then a week later heading to South Dakota.
Hopefully I'll get some pics up when we get back form Mendocino, finally got the curtain so I can hang them. The galley is fairly done, some of the cabinets inside are basically done.
We need to go up to Mendocino just for a breakin non stop teardrop work.

I'll check about in on Sunday to see how your weather went.![]()

PaulC wrote:Heikki, I use a piece of 42x19 Aussie oak, glued and screwed to the chassis as my fixing point. The ply attaches to that as well as the f/g. I do run the f/g past and about half way onto the crossmember and then use plenty of sikaflex sealant/adhesive to make a nice waterproof seal.
By the way, I use a cheap diamond wheel fitted to my angle grinder to cut the fibreglass. As of yet, I have not taped the area being cut and have not had a problem with splitting and chipping.
