There have been a couple of tears that mounted their spare tire at the rear of the trailer. In fact, I believe that Gage has a photo of one.
At first thought it seems like you would need some sort of "swing away" arm would allow you to get the wheel out of the way when you are camping. A lot of older SUVs have some sort of swing out arm that holds their spare tire. Unfortunately most of them have an upper and lower hinge, and I don't think that's the look you are trying to achieve. A single arm and hinge would have to be a lot stronger since all the weight would be carried through it. Oh yeah, you probably want the unit to swing out to the left (towards the driver's side) since most trailer sites are set up on the passenger's side and you don't want to have to dodge around the wheel when you are camping.
