Hey all.

Just a new face in apparently a fairly large and wise crowd.

I've been looking into the Teardrop lifestyle for a little while now and believe I am about ready to create my own.

Thought it would be a good idea to join in around here and make new friends before beginning such an undertaking.

with plenty more to read, and many more questions, I'm sure you all will be seeing me around.

Thanks for a resourceful place and a welcoming community in which to launch such a task and reward hard work and innovation.

See ya around,

Hibidi.

Hi Hibidi,

Welcome to the forum...

What are you thinking about building?

i like what this guy has done and think it is one of the simpler configurations i have found.

i saw another site at work that in which i liked the inside shelving and layout a little better.

my emphasis would seem to be on the simplicity of the cabin but with a good functioning kitchen area.

i have much more reading to do but it all seems like such fun projects and i dont think i could really screw it up too bad.

the electrical diagrams that i have found around here are amazingly drawn and very well described.

im hesitant to purchase the instructions from kuffelcreek.com but it seems like many people like the descriptiveness of the manuals and it may be the best way to go about building my first one.

any thoughts on where to start on all of this? aside from the reading and research?

Start with the Generic Benroy plans, up there in the top menu.

The Cubby plans tell you how to skin with aluminum, while the Generic Benroy plans tell you how to paint. Depending on your skinning plans, will determine which plans are a better fit for you.

to the playground Hibidi. Toms website is a great place to start. Another is the Generic Benroy plans up in the menu. They can be easily modified to fit any number of profiles.

We do ask that you share lots of pictures cause it keeps the bubble oil level and the MadOnes happy. ;) 8)

most definitely.

i just think its incredible that these things are so modifiable and customizable.

i also like the fact that aside from the time and effort that you may lose, if these are built right and well, they dont really lose value. if you build it and put a for sale sign on it, i dont see myself losing too much on the resale.

i see you are in southern Mo. too.

I'm in Kansas City, MO.

i drive down to arkansas to teach scuba lessons about once a month. i might have to stop by and see what you have created and gather any pointers as well.

i'm still learning about the different skinning material and aluminum seems like a great option but i am worried about it getting dings and dents.

thanks for replying so fast to things too. i can tell this place is going to be a great resource.

 Wow a second Dive teacher! We have another, who is building his second and lives in Arkansas. We really need to get a gathering but I am having trouble finding a campground near that is not full most of the time. Other than the state campgrounds that is. Other teacher is "DiverGuy".

We also have several members in the KC area.

The South Central group is gathering at Petite Jean State park in Arkansas this weekend. There are going to be some awesome TD's there.

Enjoy the planing and ask if you need anything.

Welcome to the madness. We look forward to seeing your progress, and to hear what your 2nd and 3rd tear will be like. They're like Lays Potato chips. Betcha can't build just one.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.
