More Lufkin folks coming.
We have yet another couple of teardroppers not on the forum that will be attending Petit Jean gathering. Be sure to welcome James and Joycalyne Worley. Their tear is 75% complete so will be staying nearby at a B&B. I invited them to the potluck on Saturday as they will be spending the weekend hanging out and checking out everyone's tears.

jamie and i are bringing pototato salad. we are not the best cooks.

hayharvey and everyone else going through benton to #9. about 5 miles off the interstate on hwy 5 you will see a stretch of road with two ponds and a big red barn on the left. across the hwy on a hill is a house. give them a wave as you go by. that is my mom and dads place.

Hey diverguy. Heck we can wave and honk if ya think they will be watching for us. Maybe we should just swing by their house and tell them you would feed us.
Just kidding. Will be sure to wave

Look forward to meeting new friends.

See ya all on the mountain.

just a few interesting facts about that old hwy. just past my mom and dads place you will find two HUGE homes on a hill to the right. that would be the Landers, of the Landers auto interprise. about a mile past that is the Kentucky baptist church. the preacher burned it down a few years ago but up till then it was the oldest church west of the mississippi. two houses down from my mom and dad. (a red brick house) was my grandfathers place. when he passed at 92 he was the oldest living native of benton. the land on both sides of the hwy from mom and dads was once the settlement of the Quapaw indians. you can still find arrow heads from time to time.
if you are going to take #9 up, turn right on Baileys cutt off. it will take about 5 miles off the trip.
watch out for motorcycles all through there. they love the drive.
if you want to stretch your legs just pull over and take a walk around the ponds, you will see lots of brim and catfish. just pull in by the white house next to the red barn and ponds. that is my sister.
riverside grocery is the last place for gas for a while, till you get to hotsprings village area. so if you are low. you may want to stop. you will probably find a bunch of cranky old men in there who just had heart surgery. including my dad and they like to talk about it.
right across from the white house by the ponds you may see an old man selling veggies. his name is Buddy, water mellons cant be beat. so grab a few. tell him i said hi.
it is a really pretty drive all the way through there. it is curvy and hilly at times but not to bad. see yall tomorrow afternoon.

Julie, if you're coming from OKC on I-40 you can get off on I-540 at Van Buren, go south maybe 12mi to US 71 then south on 71 'bout 6mi to Jct SH 10S at Greenwood (10S is a spur that joins with SH 10 in town of Greenwood), then SH 10 east to Jct SH 155 at Casa ('bout 70 mi or so). 155 goes NE to SH 154 (maybe 5mi??) & then it's only a couple of miles to the park. Nice drive & not too steep or curvy.

The easy way would be stay on I-40 to Russellville, take the SH 7 exit, go south on 7, cross the Arkansas River, thru Dardanelle to jct SH 154 at Centerville ('bout 15mi or so from Russellville), left on 154 & it's a straight shot to the park, 'bout 10 mi. There's about a 3mi climb up the west end of PJ Mtn but it ain't as steep as the east end. Your Accord should do OK, maybe a little slow ;) .

Y'all have a nice drive, be careful, we'll see ya there. I'm all loaded up & got the lawn mowed so I'm gonna grab a shower & then we'll head out for PJ

We are home. 6 hours and 23 minutes. Only stopping for gas. It is has hot here as it was at Petit Jean. Driveway and yard are wet. Guess I'll unpack, wash clothes and start mowing. Charles already had tear in shop . Hope everyone made it home ok.
Had lots of fun visiting with old friends and meeting new ones.

Just made it home safe. Left at 9:15 and got in at 4:15.

I had to make my first emergency stop in Russleville. A guy let his dog stroll across the road right in front of me. I missed him by inches.

Ran through a lot of rain once I got to Kansas but no leaks have been found. :applause:

Had a great time. Thanks everyone.
