What is the inside walls made of? In the image below it almost looks like some type of thin sheet rock.

They are prefinished 1/8" plywood. The finish surface wraps around the edges of the sheets.

That explains why it looked like sheetrock! 8)

What did you do with the excess Darko? Was it trimmed in close or taken up and covered by the aly siding?

re: The Darko, I was going to tuck it up and under the siding, but someone pointed out that if any water ever ran down the wall, it would sit inside the darko and be retained there, so I folded it down and trimmed it off 3" below the floor level.

FIRST TRIP !

Postby Gerald_G » Tue Jul 17, 2007 12:09 am

Well we just got back yesterday. Nine nights and ten days in the new trailer at our church summer camp meetings.

The trailer is very comfortable for camping in, I am very pleased. Needs some details on the interior stiil, but here's the latest pics from the day before we left and the trip.

Night before we left, I was busy installing propane connections.

Here is the interior (propane) light working....

Image

And the stovetop works.

Image

The fridge works too, but it's not very visually stimulating to see in action :-)

My mom (THANKS MOM) helped by sewing the cushion covers for the dinnette, and my wife made the curtains. (THANKS DEAR).

Bed up....

Bed Down...

Here we are camping it up.

And here we are pulling out to come back home.

Great time was had, now to get to some of the interior trims and details and make it really nice, and not just campable.

Wait a minute...

Didn't you start working on this thing only a few weeks ago?

No - check the post dates - lol.

I'm curently telling people I got it 60% done in 51 weeks, and the other 40% in a week. :-)

The last week I took off work and did 5 - 12 to 16 hour days. Boy I needed a vacation after that!

Fantastic Job. Great workmanship. I'll bet you really enjoyed it. It doesn't look all that big once you see the on-the-wheels pics. though. I like it.

I'm still designing mine, having frustrations, but things keep changing in your direction, namely larger. What's the size of your trailer? HxLxW?

You're a real encouragement.

The trailer is 11'7" long for the body not including tongue.
6'2" inside height - about 8' from ground with wheels on.
6'2" inside width, about 6'4" outside to outside.

I don't know the weight, have not been to a scale yet.
Dimensions I posted above.

The bunks are supported by 1" X 1.25" slats on 6" centres.
Just the thin (less than 1/4") luan sheeting on them.
