I decided mine by putting paper across the back area & sitting in the teardrop. By doing that I made mine a little shallower & shorter than what I had originally thought. When I first put the paper up I just had the feeling the cabinets were too close to me when sitting in there. By backing the paper up a couple of inches, it felt much better. Obliviously the bigger you can make them the more can be stored, but making sure there is enough knee & interior space too. I like the paper idea because then you can figure out what works for you.
