Hello All:
I have been a member for a little while now. although I have not posted much .... and even less lately. Little enough that I am sure most of you will not know me by name.
I have not written in some time... because I am embarrassed and ashamed.... I have had something I have wanted to confess for some time.... but was afraid to.
I confessed to Heiki in a pm a while back... and I never heard from him again
I figured if I am going to confess... this thread is the perfect place to do it. I am still "coming out" but it will be hidden in all these pages.
here goes.... taking a big breath... This summer I bought a travel trailer. At 19 feet... while not huge... is not even a TTT.
I like the idea of a Tear drop. I went to look at some Camp Inns at a dealer near by. They only stock upper end models.. and while beautiful..they were a little rich for my blood. So I was thinking of building one... but I have so many other projects going now... and wanted something to use this summer.
I even had a wood worker friend that would build me one just for the cost of materials. I could have been as involved... or uninvolved as I wanted.
The main problem there... is again....I wanted something to use this summer and he still "owes me" cabinet doors from about 3 years ago.
Then I was going to do the cargo trailer conversion. I was looking at something a little fancier.. than a base trailer with a matress and an ice box. I was looking at the Mission trailer and had been drawing up all kinds of plans.
I was taking my wife to look at what I was looking to build from... to show her the trailer. The dealer also sells campers. So while waiting for a salesman... we were sort of looking at used campers. We did not really see anything we were particularly interested in, but my wife asked if they had any other used campers.
They had just taken one that day. It was less than a year old... but it had hail damage.
the damage was just cosmetic. The sales person said they would give us a killer deal on it. [we were wondering if they were talking like something like a $1000.00 or so off... which did not seem like a killer deal to us]
It was on a different lot.. they gave us the keys and directions.
The side we drove up to... had no damage.. we were not sure if we had the correct trailer. We then walked to the other side and could see some small dents... there but not bad. We went inside to look around...and it was in great shape, and It was set up in a way we liked. Back outside looking it over again.. we walked to the back... WOW! it looked like someone took a shot gun to it... It was peppered... but again it is only cosmetic.
well to shorten this [yeah I know we are after a 100 pages.... but I do not need to get there with this one post] They gave us a GREAT deal. We bought it on the spot.
It was cheaper than what I could have build my cargo conversion camper.
The original owner was able to claim it on his insurance... it was considered totaled. He bought it back... then traded it in for a bigger one.
The dealer knew it would take the right buyer... and it would have to be a cash sale.. because of the title.. saying it had been totaled... no one would let you take out a loan.
it seemed like it was meant to be.
ahh there now that I have that off my chest... I can go back to lurking clear of this guilt
