I would like to make a awning for the side of my tear. Nothing fancy, Just something to keep the Rain at bay when getting in and out . Lets see what you have done! :worship:

I was thinking of using a plane old 8'X10' tarp unless you all have a better idea?

I found an RV door awning.

I have since added a verticle flap to go in back of the awning to the top of the trailer.

You can buy telescoping tent poles at a sporting goods store. Then figure out how to attach a tarp to the roof of your tear (I recommend throwing a couple of ropes over the top and tying them to the frame on the opposite side)...

stretch out the tarp after tying it to your tear, set up the tent poles with a couple of guy lines and stake them down and you're ready to relax...

The entire awning on the Tear is about 5' X 5'.

I did build another awning for my Shasta using Arne's sugestion. Another discarded piece of RV Awning Fabric. Old adjustable tent poles and some EMT (electrical metal tubing...The Teardroppers secret building material)

Hi Len,

Can you show a few more pics of this awning? I understand the part about how to attach it to the trailer. Mostly I'm wondering how you attach the awning material to the horizontal pipe that is attached to the adjustable poles.

Also do you remove the entire thing and travel with it inside the trailer?

Paul what size K. carport did you have? I forgotten what you said about one being to big or to small.

Hi Art.
We use a Medium for Norma's side tent (warning--I still exit my side THEN finish pulling up my pants :shock:

).

The Large Carport gives great waterproof/highly wind resistant coverage for the cooking area, two chairs and a small table, the Girl's cushions and in a pinch the cooler and wash stand.
