How Fast is Your ISP?

Postby Podunkfla » Tue Aug 07, 2007 9:35 pm

How Fast is Your ISP? It seems the US is getting eclipsed by many other
countries in the world? So... I was just wondering how fast is your
connection to the internet? Silly, I know... but still kinda fun to know.

Here is my favorite test site:

My connection seems slightly above average tonight.

From that website it looks like Comcast is the fastest in the USA.
Average is 9952 & 6586

This is my laptop on the wireless connection. I would expect the machine upstairs does better, but Norma has custody of it right now ;)

Ah well... We only have one ISP here, and cable is not any faster?

Mary, I don't think your speed has anything to do with your computer... has everything to do with your ISP and distance from central office....

It seems to get better at night, some mid-days it just crawls along. :D Danny

Wanna bet? I'm running a Win 98 on a 566!! HA!! I am using DSL

Please don't tell me that if I purchased a new PC, it will not get faster. :fb

Not too good right now, got a torrent running at the moment. That would be the reason for the upload speed.
Image
Have to try it again when the torrent is done.

It's a little better when no torrents are running!

Mine was too slow to register, LOL!

I have blazing fast dial-up out here in the woods...26.4 Kbps. No cable, no DSL....the only highspeed option is $atellite internet and that's pricey <sigh>. :( Oh well, on the bright side, I sat out on my porch tonight and saw 2 foxes, 5 raccoons, and a deer, so I guess the tradeoff is worth it...(it'd be nice to have both though...) :D
