Hurricane Dean

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Hurricane Dean

Postby Ira » Sat Aug 18, 2007 2:20 pm

I'm so proud to know him:

And it looks like he will really be doing some damage.

But all kidding aside, this is heavy duty crap, right? It's way south of Florida, but with the water temps so high these days, this is one that can do something nuts when it heads back west, right?

From what I just saw, eventually, back up into the Gulf states--Texas and Louisana included.

What's the mood up there?

I,ve been thinking about everyone in the area that may be effected by this thing. I hope you all have your bug out supplies ready just in case.
Indiana may be a bit far to go but i'll keep my fire ring ready!

Buy your gas now, they'll use this as an excuse to make the price jump up again.

Here in Kansas we are appreciating the cloudiness (cooler weather, only 92 instead of 103) and possibility of rain...but we hate that it's at the expense of you houstonians and whom ever else it is affecting!

Yeah:

They're gonna blame the higher prices on all of the damage done to the refineries in JAMAICA.

Hey Rocky, Charles said the exact same thing. We are going to keep topping off our tanks before it jumps up.
I'm off work this week and was about to panic that I might be preparing for bad weather instead of working in the shop.
I would prefer that "Dean" just disapate but it looks like he is heading for Mexico. You never know when he might change his mind though.
Charles said the big guys at TxDOT got everyone in high gear on Thursday preparing for the worst if Dean headed this way.

My prayers are with those that will be in his path.

What's with the people that name these things???
There was a Hurricane Dean in the late 80's, Tropical Storm Dean in the mid 90's and now another Hurricane Dean in '07...

There's a fixed list of names--they don't add to it or change it:

They'll only retire a name from the list.

So if they run out of names, that's when they go to the Greek alphabet. So no Hurricane Ira--ever.

Just doesn't seem right to me.

I'm keeping my eye on this one. I don't have a place to store my build from harm.So I'm a bit worried. I have worked so hard on it in all this heat and all.I don't want to wish it on anyone but I sure hope it doesn't hit here in Corpus. I did buy lots of can goods. Go away Dean. :( Peg

If that's true, would someone please explain to me why they ever let them go down in the first place?
