Is this something you do for a living or just a hobby? :D

I can't believe Miriam didn't tell you that, we need photos if it's a hobby
Uncle mike wrote that. They use the same avatar (only reversed) to confuse people. I always have to look twice at their posts (even then I am confused often) to see who's posting.

good morning everybody.

Good morning Scott... good morning everyone...

I woke up at 2:30 am... got up at about 3:30 and went for a 5 mile walk. zzzzzz
They said some were supposed to get frost last night. That is about a month early for our average. I did not notice what the temp was here this morning... but it was not that cold... but it was cold enough that I did wear gloves and a hat.

While I am not ready for it yet... I do hope we have good snow this year

When it gets light enough to see... [and the wife is up...so I don't wake her] I will head out to build another bridge .

I may put another shelf up in the camper also...

having bought something... vs building. I was able to use right away  . The downside is I like tingering and adding to it. and there really is not that much to do to it... oh well I have enough other projects.. :)

have a good day

 I think the last frost we got here was 1977! It snowed a quarter inch and shut down the whole area

Yep... It has been a while...

December 23, 1989 – Light rain in Jacksonville turns to freezing rain as temperatures drop, and later changes to snow. The snow totals several inches in some locations, and results in the first White Christmas in the city's history. Traffic virtually came to a halt as every bridge and overpass in the city was iced over. A few brave souls were even spotted skiing on the Acosta bridge. Saturday morning my car was an icicle with 1/2 in layer and all locks frozen. The best way to get around the city turned out to be by mountain bike. :snow

Morning Everyone....especially Aunti Mike!

Been raining here for 3 days now....we needed the rain....just not all of it for the summer at one shot.

So why would someone who lives in Florida even own skis??

It has to be tough when things like that happen.

Even people in the Boston area don't really know how to drive in it.

Years back we were in Key West just after they had a cold snap. Many people down there did not have coats or anything... perhaps not even long sleeves. We talked to some that basically just put on a bunch of T shirts.... that was the only thing they had.

Geln, I know several folks down here that own ski's, boots and the whole shmear...they go at least once a year to Colorado to get cold and break bones...a true story...when I moved back here from Co in 1981, I had a pair of Xcountry skies...we caught a 3" snow that year and I drove to within a mile of work(lived about 15mi away), took out the skis and used them the last mile...it made such a sensation that the local TV actually came out and took my pic sking around the local mall parking lot :D

ok I can see still having skis like when MJ moved back there from Co.

Skiing once a year... sounds like trouble to me... definately... lots of potential for broken bones.

I did a quick look at the Jacksonville ski club. they mentioned a Florida ski council... consisting of 14 clubs.... who would have "thunk it" wow! :o

So are there actual ski shops down there?... or are people just buying the equipment while traveling in snow country?

 I went to Seattle to visit my parents for Christmas that year (I lived in St. Marys Ga. then) and had better weather there! For all the people wondering about snow skis, you may remember a visa commercial a few years back where there was a sporting goods store that you could learn to kayak, snow ski or scuba dive all in the store (they also have a pistol range) its 3 miles from my front door.
