You get a spanky, or you get a new title. Can not remember which.

Good morning all

I got to sleep a little last night yeah! :D

Yes Elmo.... great tag line :o :) :) :)

I got another bridge made yesterday. Although when I look at them... I wonder why it takes me all day.

Although yesterday I did do other work also. Today I have a bigger bridge to takle... this will be a longer one it will be 25 or so feet long, and it is on an incline. One bank is a bit higher than the other.

Ok so Scott has topped 900 posts... del is approaching 500...the lowest other I have seen in this thread [in some time anyways] is deputydogrick... and he is almost 3 times mine. This is not even looking at people like Aunti M.

I have some catching up to do.

It will be some time before I earn a spanky

I guess I will just have to iritate MK some more

ahh yes snow. I can wait a couple of months.. but then let it snow let it snow let it snow.... I am looking forward to skiing. Biking on frozen snowmobile trails is awesome also.

have a great day

First of all...what are these bridges we speak of? Pictures??

One of the most peaceful things I do is winter bicycling...I built up a cyclocross a couple of years ago and have a set of studded tires for riding on the river and Lake Michigan.

Morning All!

cool to find other cyclist here... and winter cyclist at that.

I am sorry I don't have a camera yet.. hmm perhaps I need to say that with each post :D I don't have a camera ... I don't have a camera.. I don't have a camera.. :) :) :)

Perhaps this winter I will get one. but then of course I need to learn how to use it... then how to post pictures.. :) :)

the bridges are nothing to really look at. they are not really pretty or anything. Basically they are 2 double 2x6 x 16 for beams.. and 32 inch wide 2x6 decking. I have put 4 x 4 post in the ground to anchor and support.

Elmo if you like riding on the lakes and rivers... you would love the snowmoble trails. The conditions have to be right. and unless it is real icy you would need a mountain bike with studded tires. [the wider tires for float].

It is like riding a roller coaster.... twisty hilly.. whoop de doo's with out it being as rough as regular mountain biking. There are no bugs... your bike does not get dirty... so no real maintanance.

There are more trails available than in summer. bodies of water are frozen.. there are signs up... farmers fences are down.

I have done lots of biking in my life... but the best has been this.

I have done the snowmobile trail thing a couple times and had fun(use a Fuel 100 with studded tires)...the river that leads into Lake Michigan is a block away so that is why I go that route most of the time and not a lot of snow lately. I use to do a lot more riding and running a couple of years back...pre 2 knee surgeries....hurts to be clipped in and run now!

I use to manage a bicycle shop and built up a pretty good collection...as a matter of fact I have been PMing with MK(seeing if she can get me a discount on McDonald Gift Certificates at work :R ) about a contest I will be having soon/maybe later today about something I will be starting up next spring. (Pm'd Mike already Madjack)

Got back from Monterey last night. Very tired.

I saw six, yes 6, Bugatti Veyrons on the peninsula while there. Amazing.

Concorso Italiano was not very interesting this year. A lot of late model Ferraris and not much that was collectible.

The Quail Concours was awesome, and Pebble Beach Concours had some awesome cars. I'll post a link to a gallery once I get pics loaded up.

Had a good chat with Adam Carolla at the Aston Martin party. We have similar tastes in cars. He has a Datsun 510 race car that I want. Met Nick Mason briefly, too, at PB. Also met Fabrizio Giugiaro, and got a ride in his latest design -- a Giugiaro/Mustang concept car.

Best of all, temps in the low 70s by day, and 50s by night. Ahhhhh.

Back in Dallas now, and stinking heat. sigh

Elmo

I have been a bicycle mech. for the past 25 years. My wife and I have a good sized collection also. I am not sure exactly how many at the moment but it is at least 20 bikes.

Yes one does need snow for the riding I was talking of... and that has been pretty hit or miss for a few years now.

The conditions have to be right for it also. We have a lot of changeable temps... so that the trails often get frozen up pretty good.
I have a main trail that cross the road... just up the road.[ a 1/10 or 2]

so when the conditions are right... it is good it is easy to get out.

We have not done it in a couple of years.. but a friend of mine had a small farm pond he used to plow a track on and we would go out there and race. [20 laps to the mile to give you an idea of the size]

We would stud up our own tires for that. We were griping better than sticky tires on clean pavement. .. but still going into 2 wheel drifts coming out of one of the tight turns... it was a blast also.

We were all so into it we each had several sets of tires... depending on whether we were riding the pond.. or trails and depending on the conditions. I actually had different bikes..so I did not have to remount the tires.
