Pimping Up The Tracker

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Some rattle can paint in camo colors and some palm fronds for patterns would be a nice paint theme.

Why in the world would WM sell Ice Shantys in florida for?

That's kinda what it looks like, or maybe it's a guard house for the new neighborhoods that keep popping up in fla.

Son of a bitch stole my joke. (Thanks for the offer, but the shipping alone wouldn't be worth the cost.)

I don't see myself loading it up so much as to affect stability. Just want a convenience place to store things. I doubt a small cooler and picnic and fishing supplies will affect it that much.

Towing the TD--well, that's gonna be a DIFFERENT story. (I think I see cinderblocks in my galley's future.)

Yep--gonna have to move my tag, and that was gonna be ANOTHER question to ask. (But believe me, in Florida, it's joke when it comes to these regs.) And not block the lights, which shouldn't be a problem.

Cool idea about the winch--I can help retrieve retirees who roll into the canals with their wheelchairs.

Blackwalls--yes, and bigger. I found out the maximum size to go with to minimize any rubbing. Won't have to adjust the steering stops unless I really want to. Getting a new black top for Xmas, too. I already told Mrs. Santa.

Finally, I got rid of all of the rear decals with no problems, and I made a tiny attempt at these--and it ain't gonna be easy. Afraid I'm gonna hurt the finish. Gonna have to take my time and live with the consequences.

If I really screw it up, maybe I can do something cool with magnetic signs to cover it.

Ira,

I used one (1) Eastwood decal eraser to remove the side graphics (both sides of the truck) from a Mazda SE5 once the graphics had started to fleck off in places and looked even worse than when they were new. Absolutely no damage to the paint.

Weird--link didn't work for me. I even tried www.eastwoodco.com by itself. I think the servers are having a problem communicating.

I bought some stuff in a blue can that worked fine on the other decals (don't remember name), but I didn't try it on these yet. You're supposed to pull up a little edge and work it little by little, but I can hardly get an edge up at all.

Maybe I'll give it a spritz and try anyway, cause they gotta go.

Did you try a heat gun or a hair dryer to get the decals started/completely off? I know I unstickered a Jeep with this method...the Jeep looked manly enough...just not the pink and purple decals.

You won't hurt the finish taking the decals off, and being a whilt truck, you don't have to worry about faded paint not matching whats under the decal.

The older the decal is, the more likely it will be to come off in pieces. It will come off, but it may take a while -- maybe as much as three or four beers worth of time. :)

Also remember, as you go bigger in diameter on tires, you are effectively going taller in final drive ratio. That means your acceleration times will go up. How much do you want to slow a Tracker down from 0-60. I'm sure those guys who do the monster tires on their 4X4s also change differential gears accordingly.

Those decals are on there like you wouldn't believe--but I figure if I just use my fingernail and take my time prying it up little by little before using any magic adehsive remover, I won't really hurt the finish.

So I'm shooting and hoping for at least 6 beers per decal.

And yeah--I know the taller tires slow down the acceleration, but it's better than looking totally gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) Also, I'm now visiting a custom Tracker website and bothering everyone over THERE as well as here, and the general consensus there has been that it's worth it going to larger tires.

Those guys don't want to appear gay either. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Hair dryer and finger nails. Trust me!

Go with the bigger tires...especially if I have to come down to drive it around for you! :R

Here is yet one more Idea, Ira ~

This clear formula can be safely used on white and light colored clothing,
carpeting and upholstery without yellow stains developing. Goo Remover
removes: adhesives, tar, oil, grease, tree sap, decals, bumper stickers and
engine grease.

Yeah...but won't that cause hell to his finger nail polish? :)

Plus bigger tyres may provide more grip, so ensuring that the Tracker will overturn in an accident rather than slide sideways. (Not that there's anything wrong with that?)
