Quick Question about Fiberglass

Can fiberglass which is 1.5 mm thick be "floated" as aluminum can?

meaning having glue on the cross ribs and sides...since it will have the corner mouldings?

Ive glued mine with special glue that is for fiberglass sheeting and ply. I did all areas but is that too much.?

Does it expand as aluminum does?

I'll jump in here Heikki . I covered every square centimetre of the ply with contact adhesive. I did not float mine as I did not like the idea of bubbles appearing in extremely hot weather. I think the only way of floating F/G would be to use some kind of thin felt between it and the ply. But that's only a thought coming from the vacant spaces between my ears

Paul I knew that you would chime in at this time of the hour sometime..

PS I dont know if youve heard or read but I did finally get some moulding as well.. not from sources that you mentioned as of yet though but enough to get our tear done and Im just jumping for joy.



Sweden as has a company that is somewhat of a rep on the adress you gave.. Germany told me to contact them in Sweden but no reply yet.

I ,ll post pics soon but no more unfinnished pics of the exterior

Paul that is the one we are using.. started the moulding and so far so good. The other may be used for the Towbox and under portion of the tear..

We actually have a rubber moulding that goes under the moulding as well to give it a very tight seal and butyl tape under it.. so it should be water tight...at least that is what the Caravan people stated..

I grabbed the moulding and shot out like a Rocket.. To Build.. Maybe you have an idea so to why I left in a hurry..

Im working on this as Im writing.. Before I cut the side extras off the fiberglass did you leave any extra at all extending out on the edges or is it flush? Mm,s or centimeters ? Anything?

Heikki, I ran my router around those edges so that everything was flush. I had a trimming bit fitted, you know, the type with a roller bearing on the end of it
