tire clearance

:?: does anyone have specific data,,, experience or just a good educated guess as to minimum clearance between the tire and the teardrop wall ,,mine is a bit tight. it may be ok ,,just need some advise,,thanks

I do not think the clearance from the wall is nearly as important as the clearance from the top.
Until recently I was running 14x8 rims on my 53 Chevy and there was less than 1/4" clearance between the tire sidewall and the lip under the back fenders. Never had a problem as there is no sideways motion to speak of
I would say if you have an inch of clearance you would be fine.
Again this comes from my experience building hot rods, so I am not absolutely sure if the same rules apply to trailers.
