Rubber roofing?

Postby tearbum67 » Thu Aug 30, 2007 11:54 am

I was at my sons Baseball practice last night and on the dugout roof they had rubber roofing streched over it. Now Ive done some repairs on this stuff in the past and know that you need the proper self leveling black (tar) caulk to seal it. But has anyone thought of using this stuf for the roof of a TD? Any draw backs? (Except for heat absorption - The stuff is black. ) Just tossing around some ideas before I settle on an exterior.

I think you are talking about the same type of roofing that they are discussing here:

Looks like it is possible, with some caveats

I use EPDM and EDM rubber daily. Its good stuff. But for a tear the roof must be absolutely perfect.

Any Plywood joints that are raised, split or humped will stick out like a sore thumb.

My Buddy Coop "goldcoop" used this on his and I think it has held up very well.

It can be coated with a Protect-all product and even buffed to an almost shiny finish.

Happy Trails
