Birth of another BenRoy... the DragonFly

Postby sid » Sun Sep 02, 2007 8:13 pm

We've been working on it since Aug 4th, and sorry for the delay in the pictures but the computer has been down. (I have a new one tonight!) We hope to finish it up this next week.

Thanks to Mike and the others who worked on the BenRoy plans. They were a lot of help. The galley and the insides are a little different, as are the doors, but that is what makes it ours. We copied a lot of the ideas from our Yoder Toter because they just seemed to work good for us. Under the floor storage covers the entire bed area.

We will be putting our 2006 5x8 Silver Shadow Yoder Toter up for sale shortly. We have really enjoyed it and it a very well made teardrop, but it was a hold over for us. We built a 4x8 Cubby year before last and it was a little small. We had a lady friend of ours that fell in love with it, so we sold it to her and bought the Yoder Toter until we could get around to building another one. We really like camping in something we built.

The Yoder Toter has an AM/FM/CD installed in the galley and an extention table as well. You can see the BenRoy and the Silver Shadow in my Album.

Trim

Postby Creamcracker » Sun Sep 02, 2007 8:34 pm

Hi Sid,
Looking good there --- where did you get that black trim between roof and sidewall from?
I like the look of that.

Actually, it will be a month come Tuesday.....! :?

The black trim was white trim before I attacked it with a can of spray paint. I liked the look of the black against the wood.

Hey Philip,

It is standard RV aluminum trim I got at the local RV place. It has a channel down the middle that takes the plastic trim to cover your screws.

I'll second that one! We *just* got the walls up after 2 months and it's questionable whether we'll be campable for the Oct 5th outing in Illinois.

We may have to ask Gage, but I am not sure it is legal to built a tear in less than a year. Good work, now take it apart and start again only slower.. Jim G

Thanks for all the nice comments, and the jealous ones too.

The windows will be here today, and hopefully the hatch handles. Hang the doors, add two pieces of trim to the hatch, install the hatch handles and go camping!

Oh yea... the side marker lights and the license late light!

Anybody out there interested in buying a 5x8 Silver Shadow Yoder Toter? If so PM me. Thanks
