Many, but not all Bruce. Some of us are 'gourmet tasters'.

Hwy. 101 exit 200

Postby Esteban » Mon Sep 03, 2007 12:27 am

Finding your way to the SLO Gathering just got a little easier. The turn off from Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo is now marked as Exit 200 . It's named the Los Osos Valley Road turnoff. LOVR takes you all the way to the town of Los Osos on the coast then it turns left onto Pecho Valley Road which is the entrance road to Montana do Oro State Park. The campground is a little inland above Spooner's Cove. You'll make a left hand turn at the old ranch house to enter the campground. It's an easy drive.

Turn right at the first opportunity you have after passing a Motel 6 on your left. That's if your going north. But then if your coming south, it'll be on your right (different Motel 6). Me, I just head for my brothers house. ;)

Bruce,

The nice thing about these potlucks is that there is always plenty of food. I have even started doing breads and side dishes because there are so many main dishes available. A nice salad would be a nice addition to all of the other offerings.

The most important things to bring to a potluck is a good appitite!

The people who are willing to share their campsite are the ones who'd need room for their utility trailer. :) :)

Steve,

It looks like Kathleen, Dave and I are going to carpool. That frees up one parking spot at our site. You can park the trailer with us.

Bruce, if the weather for the SLO Gathering is anything like this Labor Day weekend, hot, hot, hot, did I mention it's HOT, bringing a cool salad or a big jug of cold lemonade would be really appreciated. :applause:
It was 105 degrees in nearby Avila Beach yesterday where thousands of people sat, baking, outside for a Pops Concert. :x

Welcome Wes and Betty from Laguna Beach. Randy "Mac" and Cyndie, if I haven't welcomed you before, welcome to you, too. Randy "Mac" and Cyndie have graciously agreed to share their campsite with Wes and Betty. Took some behind the scenes "musical chairs" to make it work. Thanks Billnut and Joanne for offering parking space.
:) 8) :D  :applause:

Milt from Sonora, CA called me after learning about the gathering from Grant's website. He's restored several teardrops and tiny trailers and wants to come to the SLO Gathering. For now, he's first on the waiting list. If a space, or another double up opportunity, opens up Milt can join us. I have space for 1 tow vehicle "in my pocket." Does anyone want to offer to share your campsite, if you'll have no more than 2 vehicles in yours, to double up with Milt?

Sunny16,
Our average weather 74 degrees during the day and 50's in evenings. I would be ready for hot or cold weather since we are having strange weather.

Steve, We'd be happy to have Milt stay on our site. I hope there is enough room. My truck is small, so it should be ok.

Thank you Phil. I'll let Milt know he can come. He sounded like an interesting guy on the phone.

BTW, the paved parking areas in the two typical camp sites I measured are about 24'x24' so 2 teardrops and 1 car or truck should fit easily. Back on page 3 of this thread there are photos of the campground, and Spooner's Cove, to give you an idea of what the camping spots will look like.
