Skins on the TD

When insulating you use ¼ plywood on the outside and 1/8 on the inside…right?

Has anyone used paneling on the inside? There is a lot of paneling options. Is there any reason this wouldn’t be a good idea?

Son, you really need to look at all the build pictures. We have done it all or mostly all. You can put whatever you want on the inside. I used 1/8th on the inside and 3/8 on the outside.

I can't see all of the pictures. a lot are blocked by the Army network... some show up, but not all here and none from any photo hosting site like yahoo, webshots or photobucket... and a lot of links posted don't work. I'm really verny lucky I can see this site. most forums are blocked too...

I suppose it doesn't let you see anything Ira does then huh. Uppp got it. A lot of the pictures here are from sites like Photobucket. Maybe the albums will be more helpful.

On a serious note...there are some td's that have 1/8th outside and in. It just depends on what you want and where you are taking it.

I used the 3/4" solid wall construction on mine but I used the 1/8" panneling for the interior skin. It worked great, took the inner curve verry well. I hope you are able to see these pics.

I used just what you are proposing...1/4" ply on the outside, 1 1/2" insulation, and wood paneling on the inside. All this on the roof area, and no problems.

My walls are sandwich constructed. Outside wall 1/2", 1 x 4 framing and 3/4" sheet insulation, inside wall 1/4". Definitely over built but it's solid.

On my next one I'll use 1/4" on the outside and 1/8" on the inside.

I KNEW IT!!! I knew I had read that somewhere........ the Luan plywood....... geezzzz thought I was going craze Asia........ I was laughing about my luan exploding and WOW>>> some people got very serious on me....... I posted it here in this section....... maybe you have read it...... but thanks for your info.... I was planning on using luan or 1/8 inch Birch on the outside skin of mine before I put on the metal....Is that the way I am suppose to do it? skin the outside with wood first then the metal right?

I can guarentee you that I was through the door first.... it sounded like a gunshot.... (and seein' how we live on the edge of town and sometimes there are some sharpshooters whose bullets dont go the right direction.... I looked down to see if there was any blood dripping from my body. ) glad to say that it was just wood flying all over the place... Brenda told me tonight that we could have paid for TWO TD's with the money we could have made from the "funniest video's" show....

I used 1/8 ply on both the inside and outside with 1 1/2 inch insulation. Eventually the trailer will be skinned with Alum,

There are lots of options for inside I would just beware that the material is moisture resistent.

I used 1/8" birch veneer on the interior. The tear is fully insulated, sides and top, with rigid foam. The sides are 3/8" ply sheeted with .032 aluminum on the exterior. The inside is insulated with rigid foam then covered with the 1/8" birch veneer. The top has 1/8" birch on the inside, rigid foam insulation between the stringers, and topped with the aluminum sheet.

I used birch because it is lighter in color than the less expensive mahogany luan. I also found that a "satin" urethane looks better than "gloss" or "semi-gloss" on the interior.

My total inside is paneling from Lowes there is lots of options you can use.
Of coarse my tear is framed with 1 1/2" walls so I didn't need the extra strength and paneling worked fine
