Eureka Airports Question

[Classic Finn]

I was flying around Eureka Ca... on my Flight Simulator and using an ol Douglas DC 3 Twin Prop.. looking for an airport long enough to land...



Here are the Airports or Landing Strips I visited ... wanted a cup of coffee there but had to find a parking space 1st...

Kneeland - Id 019
Murray - Id Keka
Eureka Mun Id 033

I tried several but 2 short and trying approach from Ocean sides at a very low approach but had to pull up since I ran out of landing strip...

Are there any airports there that can handle such of an aircraft or are they all only for Piper Cubs or Cessnas or equivalent...

Id hate to try the approach with a 737...

anyone else with a Flight Sim at home... At the moment Im using the FS 2004 till I go get the newest version.

Heikki you can land here in Yakima. While you are here we can look at some old chevy pu's. I have not forgot, just have not been there yet, soon though.

Love Flying I went through aviation ground school at about 16 to get my private licences but was unable to afford the flight lessons so it went out the window. My new dream is to learn to play the Sax one day I'll get a used one to play with oops that has nothing to do with flying.

I'm near the Indianapolis international airport. well only about 40 min east.
The wife works for a drug company there and drives there each day

What!? You didn't get in?? Could it have been the fog?? We are 2nd only to London. They used to practice landings up here during the War to get pilots used to landing in the foggiest of locations. The airports/strips are relatively small here. I have flown on many a puddle jumper to connect to a bigger airport. And it's important to use the "facilities" at the airport before you leave cuz some planes don't have one on board. Also, some navigation experience is helpful. Like the time the pilot was trying to land (4-5 approaches) when he finally parted the curtain to ask if any of us could spot the landing strip lights And the ocean approaches are always quite thrilling enough, Since all six of us shook our heads, "No", he had to fly us east to land and then we drove for 2 1/2 hrs. to get home. Flying into and out of this area has gotten much better over the years as there has been some competition between airlines. The airport is called the Eureka/Arcata airport, but it is located in the town of McKinleyville.
The code is ACV.

So, try, try again, Heikki.

Ok I,ll try again wthout parting the curtain ... The approach from the Pacific side was a nice view but I jest ran out of landing strip...No fog - Excellent visibility..

I shall give it a try at ACV. I,ll let you know but warn the folks the Flying Finn is coming in...

but you better have auto pilot on or co pilot take over for you..in the meanwhile...

Well where is the Eureka Welcoming Committee... Im at Acv however on my sheets says KACV??? Both landing Strips from Pacific side I noticed... But I used a smaller plane Cessna 172...

I think I,ll try a bigger plane but gee the landing strips are short near these parts... And you dont dare to make a mistake there.. otherwise your shark food...

But ok 1st attempt in a small craft.. I,ll stick around here for awhile and
try various planes but absolutely not for any of the Boeing versions...

They do land large military transports here. Should be no problem for your goony bird (militarys version of the dc-3 is called a c-47, and formally the goony bird)
