BAD computer bug.

I am just now getting back online.......but still not good......... anyone know a good Virus program to remove a bug from the System Restore ??? I have Mcafee , and it's not doing much good. HELP !

http://www.avast.com/ ...I give it two thumbs up...I'd give it more but that is all the thumbs I have...free with registration...run a boot scan on the full system at least twice...you can also turn off system restore and dump all of it and restart with a clean slate......

Thanks M/J , I have tryed most everything, I have turned off system restore.........and I can't dump anything..... I can't get into the Task Manager, at all........ maybe this will help.........thanks bud.

which virus was it? McCaffe good about stopping them from getting in but still has problems with a trojan horse. Ive had to format my hard drive before and reinstall everything .

It depends if it is a virus or something else.

I had a trojan once and it was the ad-aware plus that saved me. It was worth every penny I spent. The plus version costs the money. I spend hours doing searches on the internet putting in what my computer was doing & for my problem Ad-aware plus is where it sent me. I didn't want to wipe everything out & start over. Fortunately we have more than one computer & I could do all the research on my husband's computer.
Also it can make a huge difference if you run these programs in safe mode, because with some of these "bugs" that is the only way they can be gotten.

Speaking of bug in computers, at least you don't have this kind. My son took home a friends laptop to work on it. When he opened it a cockroach came crawling out of his friends lap top , now that's a bug no software can fix. My son decided it was well worth the trouble to bug bomb his whole house in case he didn't get all of the roaches in that laptop. True story Danny

The solution to an Operating System that is buggy and insecure is to file it in the round file (or use it as a coaster) and get one that works.

Let me be the first Rocky....

After having another round of problems with my PC I decided to play around with Linux. It was ok... but just ok. And then I decided I didn't have time to learn to OS. So I grabbed on of Chell's Mac laptops and took it to work and played with it. Loaded up some software... it did everything I needed it to do.

Now are you ready for this??? I went out and bought a desktop Mac, and everything transfered from the Laptop. Everything!!!

I could have also taken the hard drive out, and put it in an enclosure, and transfered everything.

Then I backed up everything.

I guess it's easy to do backups and restores cause there is no registry.

So long story short, I am learning the Mac. I still have the Wintel sitting here on a KVM switch incase I have withdrawal symptoms, but it's getting easier every day.

We will never have Macs at our house & here's the reason. It has nothing to do with whether they have a better machine now or not.
It goes way back to when their machines were Apples. The early computers were expensive (like $1,000 how many years ago) & David's brother really wanted an Apple2. Long story short the store he was getting his computer at went bankrupt but he had paid his money. He wanted one so bad he ended up buying another one, but eventually Apple offered a deal to all the people who lost their money that if they paid a certain amount of more money like half price they could have a computer. So David ended up with a computer.
When Apple went from the Apple operating system to the Mac system, they left all those owners with no support & since Apple never let anyone but them write programs or anything for their computers unlike Microsoft there was no one writing programs. The owners of Apples ended up with worthless machines. Because of this attitude David will never own anything Apple. David is stubborn this way. He would like to learn Linux though.
