How often do you camp?

Postby CAJUN LADY » Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:01 am

I was just reading an email and Pam Wright, the Director of the Rocky Mountain Tearjerkers mentioned that she has camped almost every weekend except for 5 since April. Lucky lady! So the question is "How often do you camp?"

Well -

We plan on at least 0nce a week - but end up going once a month.

But found a new campsite - real close - don't have to drive 2hours or more - and can get there right after work (and they are open all year round) So maybe we will make the once or aleast ever other week.

What's camping?

I only camp on vacation, one week a year. Unfortunately, that's the only time my wife and I have off together. Shes' off weekends and holidays while I work weekends and holidays. :disappointed:

I guess we could camp Christmas day, but somehow it just wouldn't seem right. :NC

I'm looking forward to a fulltime mobile retirement so I can finally have a life. I gotta make up for lost time you know! I just hope we live long enough. :vroom:

In the six seasons since buying our Chalet we have averaged about 50 nights a year. Generally one or two week plus trips and a bunch of extended weekends.

This year we didn't camp at all from February until July, but then did a ten day trip and a 23 day trip, with three more weekend trips planned (so far).

Now that my kids are attending school/preschool and starting to get more involved in organized activities it is getting harder. I chose my employer 15 years ago with vacation time as a big factor. Now I have enough seniority to get a lot of time off, plus I took a 5% cut in order to get an extra 12 days leave each year.

Pam is a director of a TearJerker Chapter, as am I.

Being a director keeps you very busy.

We're both about neck & Neck.

Happy Trails

My trailer is out almost every weekend all year round either camping or car shows. And I just don't camp close to home, I travel near and far. The one thing I found out from camping so much is nothing gets done at home.

Well, my answer would be " More than I ever did in a tent!"

I "completed" (aka campable) the teardrop October 06.

Since then, I've tried to do something once a month, for a weekend, but that hasn't always worked out. The "season" is about March to Dec.
This year, 2007, I've taken weekends in March, April, June, July, Sept (2) then they'll be Oct and possibly a Nov and/or Dec .
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

On average with my scout troop, once a month, but that's tent camping. I haven't gotten my tear yet, but when I do, I hope to increase that. Gotta get out of the city to recharge as often as possible.

Since the last weekend in April this year (CNTL Gathering) I have camped all but 5 of those weekends. One of those weekends I was in Wash DC and two of them I slept in the TD in the side yard. As you can tell I enjoy my TD. My paid vacation time is limited so the weekends are my escape time. I have found I organize my week more efficiently so I can enjoy my weekends. I hope to camp well into November.

After the gathering the 5th of Oct i will have sadly only camped 3 times this year. :(

But with the wife being in a new job and having weekends off and catching the tear bug I'm planning on next year being a lot better.

But I guess we'll see how the boys do, we're taking my 3 year old twins with us in Oct. it will be there first. Never to young to catch the teardrop bug

That could be the deal maker or breaker

Once, since our trailer is done.

Tent camping a couple of times, hard ground hard on old back. :D

Master motel camper.

Now that the trailer is done, most likely once a month while it is warm.

I go to the coast, and camp once a month, for two or three days, at a time. Last month, I went to Fort Bragg, for four days...so nice, great weather. Week after next, I'll pop over to Bodega Dunes, for the weekend. Bodega Dunes, is just an hour away, from home.

Well, if I get to count the 'motel camping', then 35 days so far: 3 days in January, 14 days in February, 9 days in May, 5 days in June, 4 days in August. And I'm supposed to spend at least 14 more days on the road before the end of the year between business travel, dog show travel (truly camping in a motel) and NYC medical visits.

Camping that involves a trailer and a tent...3 nights in the SunSpot so far, and next week, 5 nights and 6 days in a rental trailer at a semi-local dog show. Planned to go up to the Fall Tear Down and to a vintage travel trailer meet last weekend but my back is being too unpredictable to camp solo.
So I stayed home and camped in the back field.
