Heikki, if Romney leads the roster of Republican candidates for president here, expect a lot more asylum seekers.

Where do I sign up?

Work
Asylum seekers who refuse to participate in the organised activities may have their living allowance reduced.

Language tuition
All reception centres offer language tuition in either Finnish or Swedish. Attendance is not compulsory. However, an asylum seeker who lives at a reception centre and repeatedly refuses, without justified cause, training activities that promote employment, may lose part of the social assistance.

Wow, what a rough place to seek asylum. You have to work AND learn the language. Sorry, I'll stay here.

question

Postby Eunice » Fri Sep 21, 2007 10:13 am

Ok I dont understand this. Help me please
Why would someone want asylum from the USA? dont you want asylum when you are in fear that they will come after you? Who cares if someone moves out of the USA? The government isnt going to drag them back, are they?
I know of people who have left and moved to different countries. One guy I know gave up his citizenship. No one cared.
Some one explain the possibilities to me. Sorry if I am showing my ignorance but I really dont get it.

Could be problems with the law. Or worse--the IRS.

But let's just say you want to move to Finland, and you really don't care that half of the people in this country are going to curse you for preferring to live elsewhere, as if it's a crime to want to do that.

I'm not saying Finland does, but a lot of countries basically have a ZERO immigration policy, and this is why they don't have any Home Depots. So the only way INTO these countries is under the banner of asylum.

And the way these asylum laws are written in each country are not only ambiguous, but their applications differ depending on where you come from and the color of your skin.

You could have been black from Uganda and seriously in danger for your life, but forget it. You think Finland is taking Ugandans?

But if you're a wealthy white guy with tax problems in the U.S., hire the best Finnish attorney money can buy, they may give you a pass.

Basically, the world stinks, and it's never going to change.

I, for example, can hop on a plane any time and get automatic Israeli citizenship, because I'm a Jew. I'm the worst Jew you ever met, but I guess they look at your last name, listen to your accent, and measure your nose to confirm you are indeed Jewish.

Ok all that was commented on the News here this evening - A Family of 5.. A couple and 3 under aged childrent that flew to Finland from Germany
Seeks assylum upon arrival.

So far speculation is that this will be denied as the USA is considered a safe Country...

That was the statement from Immigration.. no other comments on it so far.

My guess is that they will be returned to Germany due to the Schengen Convention..And I dont think much will be heard after this.

Hey folks would I be given assylum there in the States? My reason is that the beauracracy of the Eu prevents me from totally relaxing and enjoying the teardrops...and building them without the stress of making them completely EU Approved..

And I want to be with our teardrop friends ...Would these reasons go through ?
