Ten amp shouldn't be a problem. I 'd say there was just too much draw for the 5 amp fuse when you connected the trailer lights.
I usually put 15 amp fuses in them but if 10 will work ok just leave it.

Rich I have a standby 15 amp in the glove box as I purchased a few extras just in case.. but so far so good..

Thank You Very Much

Heikki,
You need to be sure that the wire in the circuit in question is rated for 10A or more. Remember that the fuse is to protect your wires... you want that fuse to blow before it burns up your wire.

The ones who say it cannot be done should stay out of the way of the ones who are doing it!
