In view of the current world situation and the direction of this administration, I don't think it is a time to change light bulbs, and neither should you. We should stay the course. If we change bulbs, the terrorists win! Just remember who said, "Let there be light!"

(Okay, that takes care of politics and religion.)

What did one light bulb say to the other?

Get serious--light bulbs don't talk.

I am sorry, but as a newbie myself I don't think that is morally correct. Jim G

Lightbulb? Why not maintain the integrity of your camping experience by forgoing lightbulbs entirely and using firelight, a candle or a lantern?

Or save money and energy by switching to LED lights?

(Yep. You forgot the 1 person who always says, "leave it alone, try this instead." Hey, I had to represent us Luddites!)

I believe "lamp" is the European term for what we Americans call bulbs. They wanted to call them tubes but that term was already taken. Maybe Heikki or Andrew could confirm this. You should never mix lamps and bulbs. Lamps are for metric devices only. And if you're in the tube and the lamps go out you're really in trouble.

Hi. I'm a newbie who has been lurking here for months and learned a TON!

Thank you all for your wisdom and information!

Is it okay to build a TD on that 7 foot wide by 9 foot long Harbor Freight trailer that's currently selling for 8 bucks?

How do I know if a light bulb needs to be changed? Is this one OK?

I disagree completely. We've had this same lightbulb for several years, and it is clearly failing. I say we need a new lightbulb strategy now, before things get any darker.

We need to invest now in a new bulb, and pay down the debts we've incurred for the bulbs we've we've been using. Otherwise, we are leaving darkness deficit to our children, and they will be burdened by the cost of all the lighbulbs we have used so wastefully, too.

Here is the updated one I created from this posted earlier in Aug 14, 2005 when this first appeared here. The names have been changes to protect the innocent

Definition of a Teardrop adaptation of another humorous post about changing light bulbs and modified it for our forum with humor

1 to ask what is a teardrop and to post that Question in the General Section of the Board

14 to share their definition of what a teardrop is, and what is not a teardrop by Purist or traditional definitions

7 to caution about the about what the definition of the definition really is

1 to move it to the Off Topic Section of the board

2 to argue about it a while, then move it back to the General Discussion Section of the Board

7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts from people posting claiming to be English Majors

5 to flame the spell checkers as ‘know it alls”.

3 to correct spelling/grammar flames and start another side controversy and PM each other about it back and forth for days discussing it

6 to argue over whether if it is a Teardrop or a Tiny Travel Trailer by definition

another 6 to condemn the first 6 as stupid.

2 industry professionals to inform the group what the proper definition of a Teardrop
verses a Tiny Travel Trailer really is

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that the term teardrop is perfectly and politically correct by definition verses other types of trailers and their political correctness

4 to admit they are new to the discussion and ask what is it all about

2 start a side conversation about sports teams and who is better

1 Tree hugger scolds everyone for disrespecting “Nature” as God intended it

5 people attack each other over political and or religious beliefs

19 to post that this argument is stupid and it has no place on the board, can’t we all get along and change their user profile to “Hidden” and lurk anyway

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all have a right to our opinion and therefore all posts are relevant to this forum.

36 to debate which method of construction is superior, where to buy the hardware, what brand of hardware works best for this technique and what brands are faulty.

7 to post URL’s where one can see examples of different kinds and types of trailer building products and claim they have no affiliation with them

2 guys hijack the thread and talk about mythological animals like the Chupacabra and provide the link to that original discussion

1 to ask what is a Chupacabra?

4 to post that the URL’s were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL’s.

3 to post about links they found from the URL’s that are relevant to this group which makes their opinions relevant to this group discussion.

5 people to hotlink to pictures of teardrops and tiny travel trailers hosted on by other sites

6 people to complain about dead images.

3 people to tell them to right click the image and copy the URL into another window or how to post images to their posts relevant to the discussion at hand.

13 to read all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers, images and signatures, and add “I agree”.

1 to post a poll relevant to the original post discussion so it can have a new life in another section of the board

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the my opinion is better than your opinion controversy.

4 to say not this garbage again make this point known to all

13 to say “do a search on building techniques or products from the archive before posting redundant questions about them

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
